Overview

Step into the footsteps of former Scottish royalty, as we visit Scone Palace, the original home to the ā€˜Stone of Destinyā€™ in the Royal burgh of Perthshire - the crowning place of Scottish kings. Take a stroll under Scotlandā€™s tallest tress, marvel at the waterfall from Ossianā€™s Hall and touch the wishing tree in the Hermitage forest in Dunkeld. Lunch at Taste, Perthshire, the main attraction here is to 'hand feed' our much loved 'Highland Coos'. Immerse yourself in the Whisky-making process in Tullibardine Distillery followed by a couple of 'drams'. Visit our last attraction; the (in)famous Doune Castle, featured in Outlander, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and Game of Thrones.

Itinerary

  • Forth Road Bridge (Pass By)

The Forth Road Bridge is a renowned UNESCO World Heritage Site that joins the historic settlements of North and South Queensferry. The oldest bridge dates back to 1890 and is an iconic symbol of Scotland's 19th century bold engineering.

  • Scone Palace

Historically the ā€˜Stone of Destinyā€™ was housed at Scone Palace, the iconic crowning place of Scotlandā€™s Kings and Queens. Explore the stunning art and architecture of the Palace, follow in the footsteps of 42 Scottish Kings across the Moot Hill, adventure through 100 acres of Gardens and Grounds, and relax in our Old Servants' Hall Coffee Shop with a famous Scone at Scone.

    1 hour

  • The Hermitage

This stretch of magical Perthshire forest was originally designed as a pleasure ground in the 18th century for the Dukes of Atholl. Douglas firs tower over the paths leading to the roaring Black Linn Falls, where the River Braan crashes down into the deep, foaming pools below. Overlooking the waterfall is the picturesque folly known as Ossianā€™s Hall, built in 1757 as the focal point in an extensive designed landscape. Decorated with mirrors, sliding panels and paintings, it has been refurbished to re-create the illusions of shock, surprise and amazement that were the aims of the follyā€™s original design. It makes a fine spot to contemplate the roaring, tumbling falls. This forest is home to the endangered and elusive red squirrels, and if your trip is in autumn you might see salmon head up the falls to their breeding grounds.

    45 minutes

  • Pitlochry

Next, we will take you to Pitlochry. One of the most famous Scottish small towns, Pitlochry still retains a lot of its Victorian character, and has a plethora of boutique cafes, restaurants and independent shops to explore.

    40 minutes

  • Taste Perthshire

The main attraction of this stop is the opportunity to hand feed the 'Highland Coos', a true crowd pleaser.

    20 minutes

  • Tullibardine Distillery

We will take you to Tullibardine Distillery in the village of Blackford, Perthshire - the gateway to the Scottish Highlands, which has a long history of distilling dating back to 1488 when King James IV of Scotland stopped by the site. Tullibardine is one of a small number of distilleries in Scotland where all processes involved in the production of our single malt whisky take place on-site, bar malting. You can take part in a 45-minute visit to the distillery where you have the option to take a tour of Tullibardine's whisky-making process from start to finish, and have the opportunity to taste two single malts, or have a tasting at the bar.

    45 minutes

  • Doune Castle

Doune Castle is an important Scottish historic castle, which was also a filming location for popular TV and cinema pictures, such as Outlander, Game of Thrones, and Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

    5 minutes

  • National Wallace Monument (Pass By)

The National Wallace Monument is one of Scotlandā€™s most distinctive landmarks. This stunning 220ft tower honours the famous Scottish warrior Sir William Wallace and was built in 1869 above the fields where the Battle of Stirling Bridge took place.

  • Stirling Castle (Pass By)

One of the most important and largest castles in Scottish history, Stirling Castle sits on top of a hill of volcanic rock above the town of Stirling.

  • The Kelpies & The Helix (Pass By)

The Kelpies are the largest equine statues in the world, and were commissioned not only as a homage to the horses used in the Scottish coal mines, but also as a representation of the mythical Kelpies from Scottish fairy folklore.
