Amazing Experience!

My husband and I went on this tour to Salzburg, Austria. We were going to go to Salzburg ourselves by train but the found this tour which worked out cheaper for us and it was so much easier to have someone who knows the area, navigate the public transport systems etc. Our tour guide, Susan was absolutely amazing! She is so knowledgeable about Salzburg - the history of it, plus facts about Mozart and the Sound of Music. She was also super helpful with questions we had about Munich (eg: Restaurant recommendations, best way to navigate the public transport system, must- see sights/things to do etc). We went to Salzburg on a Sunday so the majority of shops were closed but there was still the restaurants, souvenir shops and some other shops open. Once we arrived in Salzburg, Susan did a walking tour showing us all the important sights, told us lots of interesting facts and there was always plenty of time for photos. After that we had free time to explore Salzburg ourselves. We had lunch at St Peter (Susan pointed this restaurant out to us and the food, the interior and staff were amazing) and the went to the top of the fortress which has such incredible views. Salzburg is such a picturesque place and this tour was such an amazing experience!! Overall, we loved this tour and are so happy we booked it.

Maxine did a great job of pointing out key elements of a trip to Salzburg and scenes from The Sound of Music. We got to eat at the oldest restaurant in Europe (St Peter’s) and walk up to the Abbey.

This tour was outstanding! Would highly recommend! Our tour guide (Susan) was a wealth of knowledge and had great recommendations for things to do around Salzburg and was very well organized in helping the group getting to see all the sights. Transportation was included so it made the trip nearly effortless. Definitely was a great experience to introduce you to the Salzberg experience and make it where you will want to make the city a ‘want-to-see-more’ travel destination in the future.

Elisabeth was a wonderful guide - you could feel her passion for the city as she talked about it! We arrived at the train early and on the train she shared much about Salzburg as we rode along. Once there, Elisabeth pointed out the many places we could meet if we somehow didn't make it to the meeting point on time (at the bus, train station, and train station in Munich). We toured the city, learning about the Sound of Music scenes and Mozart, among other things. While it was cold and rainy, Elisabeth kept it interesting (though not warm - she did encourage everyone to get an umbrella if we didn't have one when we first arrived at least). We were given good directions for a few options during our free time. We were able to get some lunch (and warm up) with one recommendation, and then the rain stopped - we went back to explore a few places we went by, and also some new ones. We arrived back to our meeting point on time, and one person never showed up. This was through no fault of our guide - her directions had been specific, clear and repeated. She had given enough time that we waited a little bit, and we knew she was hoping at the last second that the missing person would show up - getting on the bus last, getting on the train last - I tell this to show that if you follow the directions, even if you are a tiny bit late, you won't be left behind. We will never know why the person didn't come back on time, but I felt assured that Elisabeth cared about getting us back to Munich, and at least for those of us that showed up, to get us there on time. I will say, as I had a change of plans a few days later, I went back to Salzburg and with my knowledge of the city was able to lead my husband around a bit and share a small bit of what I had learned!
