Overview

This experience will allow you to grasp the true essence of Sorrento. The meeting point is Piazza Lauro. We will start by skirting a typical citrus grove, and then look out onto a terrace overlooking the sea. We will reach the main square, dedicated to the poet Tasso, to admire one of the most photographed abandoned places in the world: the "Vallone dei Mulini". We will enter the alleys of the historic center, discovering its most important monuments including: the cathedral, the "Sedil Dominova" and the cloister of Saint Francis. After having admired the typical "postcard" on the Gulf of Naples, we will continue our experience reaching the ancient fishing village of Marina Grande. The timeless atmosphere and the pastel colors of this suggestive place will be the right conclusion of the visit to Sorrento. We are waiting for you and as a famous TV commercial said: "Sorrento, you arrive as a tourist and leave as one of the family".

    Leaving behind the modern Piazza Lauro, we will proceed to the main square of Sorrento: Piazza Tasso, which takes its name from the Sorrento writer Torquato Tasso.

    We will walk along the main road of Sorrento, which connects it to the rest of the Sorrento peninsula.

  • Il Vallone dei Mulini

    We will stop to admire the Vallone dei Mulini, the most photographed place in the world.

  • Cattedrale di Sorrento

    We will visit the cathedral church of Sorrento, dedicated to Saints Philip and James. It houses a wonderful example of a Neapolitan nativity scene from the 1700s, the baptistery where Torquato Tasso was baptized and many masterpieces of wood inlay.

    The municipal villa of Sorrento is a panoramic point of excellence on the Gulf of Naples. Here you can not miss a photo stop.

Great walking tour in Sorrento

Simona is an excellent and knowledgeable guide, we enjoyed greatly our walk in Sorrento with her. We are interested in history and she told us a lot of local history and also present day. She linked a few family stories to the sights and things we saw which made the tour even more engaging and fun. Lemons and limoncello spirit are in Sorrento the thing nowdays and visit to the lemon garden and limoncello spirit manufacturing place gave us insights to the local gardening and limoncello recipes. We highly recommend the tour and Simone as a guide if you are interested to know about the place you are visiting.

We had the most fun and comprehensive tour of Sorrento today with our guide, and lifelong resident, Vince Russo! A very personable young man, who really knows and loves his hometown! He took us to a variety of interesting and historical sites; introduced us to local craftsmen who spent time sharing their talents; gave us great restaurant recommendations and answered all of our questions throughly. I would highly recommend Vince for a private tour of Sorrento, you will walk away truly appreciating this special place!
