Overview

Not only you will learn how to prepare authentic Italian gnocchi but you will have an entertaining experience in a top location in Padova city center with a nice Italian chef. Your first task will be to prepare the tomato and basil sauce as Italian tradition requires. Secondly, you will peel the boiled potatoes and smash them, you will add flour, eggs, and some spices to complete our mix. The chef will teach you how to properly knead the gnocchi dough and how to shape perfect gnocchi with different tools. Finally, you will cook your homemade gnocchi, mix with the tomato sauce, and add some Parmesan cheese to complete the dish. You will sit down at the table and you will finally enjoy gnocchi with some local drinks.

From train station follow the sign for the Giotto Chapel, our school it is right behind it. From train/bus station it is 10 minutes walk. If you come by car you can park close in "Padova city centre parking".

Itinerary

Ciao! We will introduce each other and you will be given a white apron and be assigned to a working station. First of all, you will make the sauce for your Gnocchi, tomato & basil with top-quality ingredients. While the sauce is simmering you will start "getting dirty" and make the dough with flours, eggs, and potatoes. When the dough is ready we will start to create our Gnocchi by creating long and thin "sausages" of pasta and cutting them into small cylinders. After that, we will start shaping our gnocchi with the "rigapasta", an essential tool to get the lines on the gnocchi so that the sauce will get stuck on them. Finally, we will cook Gnocchi, mix them with the tomato & basil sauce and we will sit together and enjoy our home-made Italian Gnocchi. Along with the experience you will be offered unlimited wine and drinks so that you won't be thirsty.

Chef was friendly and on top of things. Showed us step-by-step technique for making proper Venetian gnocchi, which we intend to replicate. Shared food from other couple who were making lasagne. Had plenty left over for a dinner a few days later.
