Overview

Leave the busy Rome city to fall in love with the slow and the beauty life of locals in Frascati, the City of Wine. Your day begins with a beautiful train ride to Frascati from Rome, during which you can admire the beauty of the countryside of Rome. We will pick you up at the Frascati Station and show you all the amazing corners in town. Then it will be time to reach our old wine cellar, where our family started with wine production. Sip two types of our family’s best wines pairing with local meats and cheese. Next all the necessary for making pasta will be ready, so it will be your turn to get your hands dirty. Wearing apron and mixing all the ingredients together while drinking wine you’ll turned up with your own handcrafted pasta. So it will be magical to see what happened, your pasta will be cooked with your favourite Roman Sauce and that’s it! You’ll be ready to enjoy your own pasta sipping wine and relaxing. You won’t leave our place before not have visited our wine cave!

Itinerary

It's no secret that culture and knowledge are passed on from generation to generation. When it comes to Italian culture, it's safe to say that what can be learned from our ancestors is truly extraordinary. Your hosts Paolo and Simone learned how to grow and make wine, how to make pasta from scratch, and of course how to prepare wonderful local delicacies from their Nonna.After introductions are made at Frascati railway station, your guide will lead the way on a short walk through historic Frascati, the very heart of the Roman countryside. You'll get a glimpse of this characteristic town and it's rich history dating back to Roman times.After a short walk, you'll arrive at a beautiful wine cellar where your hosts will open the wines produced at the family vineyard, namely Frascati Superiore D.O.C.G. (don't worry, you'll learn what all those initials mean!) and Vagnolo. After tasting each wine with some traditional appetisers, the pasta making begins!Our chef will teach you how to make real homemade pasta, so be ready to get your hands dirty! Once you have mixed and rolled out your pasta you will be faced with a difficult choice, WHICH Roman style dish would you like to create? Choose from three typical recipes, Carbonara, Amatriciana, or Cacio e Pepe and let the chef guide you through the basics of preparation.The grand finale? Buon Appetito! Sit and enjoy your pasta while conversing with the other guests for as long as you like. After dinner you'll have a chance to view the "caves" below the wine cellar.

Fun, food, friends....and wine

This was a fun experience. We walked a bit around town and learned about Frascati. Then we went to the "school" and learned how to make pasta and the different sauces that go with. Great family business.

We loved this experience from start to finish. Nico was the ultimate host. He met us at Frascati train station and took us on a tour of the city centre giving us some of the history of Frascati. Then we proceeded on a short walk to his family restaurant where the cooking school is also located. The class was fun, entertaining and we were able to enjoy some of his family Frascati wine while we were making the pasta and sauce. Eating the pasta and more wine was the perfect end to the class. There are many other cooking classes that you can book in Rome. Why I liked this one in particular is that it offers you a bit of a day trip outside of the city centre. Frascati is only a 30 minute train ride from Roma Termini. You get to see a bit of the outskirts of Rome and also the wine region of Frascati. Thanks Nico for creating such special memories of our time in Rome.

Absolutely amazing experience! Enjoyed every moment, we had so much fun! Nico was a great host, he gave us a background on frascati, took us down to his cave underneath their restaurant. The pasta making was so fun and the instructions were so simple. The wine was soo lovely and we actually ordered a few bottles to be shipped to us in the UK. Thank you so much for this experience!! Delicious, Delightful, and Definitely Worth It

My wife and I really enjoyed this excursion to Frascati on our trip to Rome. The first thing you’ll notice is it’s a nice relief from the noise and pace of Rome. Frederica and her cousin were excellent hosts—very fun, informative, and delicious experience. I was surprised how easy (with a little practice) it was to make pasta and how delicious it was. The other attendees were from all over and really made it more fun and interesting. This is an excellent couples or family outing. The wine was also fabulous. I didn’t realize this part of Rome was known for white wine, but it was quite tasty—perfect for the hotter months I’m sure. One note, check return train times especially on Sunday. It’s a beautiful, hilly town worth exploring, but we were a little surprised how infrequent the trains ran on Sunday.
