You will learn about how a wealthy merchant family lived in the early 1900's in Otago's major town, Dunedin, built on gold. Olveston has all its original contents with over 120 art works. After your tour of over 13 spectacular rooms enjoy, in your own time, Olveston's one acre garden which is a Garden of National Significance. Our well stocked gift shop offers many items made locally.

We were part of a bus tour shore excursion from Princess Cruises. We arrived around 2pm. We were guided to the home, then introduced to our small groups tour guide. We had Roni as our tour guide. She was wonderful. From the outside the home and grounds are lovely. The inside is amazing. What a beautiful home. Our tour rotated room to room, timed with other small groups in front of, or behind us. It worked wonderfully, and you rarely knew anyone was close by. The home tour, and grounds, were far better than what I was expecting. And our guide Roni was a big reason for that. There is also a gift shop inside, and restrooms in a separate building outside. Of course we had a great visit. Thank you.

Thoroughly enjoyed hearing about the life and impact this one family has had on the city of Dunedin. It was incredible to see how foreward thinking the architechs actually were.

The one hour guided tour of Olveston house is well worth doing when in Dunedin. The house is beautifully preserved and the information given on the tour is very interesting and informative. Our guide was great and the tour had a good pace. You are free to explore the grounds at your leisure and there is a well stocked gift shop.

This was an excellent tour of a fascinating and very beautiful family home in pristine condition with all of its original furnishings. Our guide was highly knowledgeable and shared that knowledge really well. The house is a must see for a visit to Dunedin.
