Overview

As soon as we pass through the shopping arcade, we will visit Kofuku-ji temple where we can see the beautiful 5 stories pagoda. After taking some good photos, we will be heading to Todai-ji temple. The huge Great Buddha statue await you in the back. Our local guide will explain some histories and interesting facts about Japanese Buddhism and temples! After seeing the Great Buddha statue, we will enjoy viewing Nara on the Nigetsu-do temple! On the top of Todai-ji temple, there is Nigetsu-do temple where we can enjoy the great view of Nara. After that, we will visit some traditional souvenir shops and walk toward Kasuga shrine! In front of the Gyoki Bosatsu statue near Exit 2 or East Exist of Kintetsu Nara Station. Please donā€™t go JR Nara station, you need to be at Kintetsu Nara Station. It takes 10 minutes to get to Kintetsu Nara station from JR Nara station.

  • Kofuku-ji Temple 5 Stories Pagoda

    We will be the iconic Kofuku-ji Temple, renowned for its stunning five-story pagoda. This ornately carved pagoda was built by the Fujiwara clan in 730. Today it is an iconic historical landmark of Nara.

  • Todai-ji Temple

    Explore Todaiji Temple Main Hall and Nandaimon. As you approach, you will be greeted by two imposing guardian statues called Kongorikishi. Beyond them is the Great Buddha, a sight that never ceases to fascinate visitors. During this tour, your local guide will share fascinating stories and interesting insights into Japanese Buddhism and the significance of historical temples!

  • Kasuga Grand Shrine

    Explore Kasugayama Primeval Forest and Kasuga Taisha. Kasuga Taisha Shrine is located in Kasugano-cho, Nara City, Nara Prefecture. It is one of the 22 shrines in the Shikinai Shrines and one of the 22 Shinto shrines. Formerly a kanpeitai-sha, it is now an annexed shrine of the Jinja Honcho (Agency for the Promotion of Shinto Religion). The former name of the shrine was Kasuga Shrine, and the crest of the shrine is a ā€œfalling wisteriaā€. It is the head shrine of approximately 1,000 Kasuga shrines throughout Japan. It is registered as one of the ā€œCultural Properties of Ancient Naraā€ on UNESCO's World Heritage List.

We had a great time with Eri on the walking tour. She always asked us what we wanted to see, how we felt, if we were doing ok...She shared a lot of historical information which we loved, and took us to Nara's amazing shrines, temples and gardens. She also took us to a typical Japanese restaurant for a wonderful lunch. What a treat! We had a wonderful experience - thank you, Eri!

I did this tour with my sister & niece two months ago and enjoyed it so much that I decided to do it again with my son. Our tour guide Shiori was informative and friendly while making sure to answer all of our questions. She even helped my son buy a kitchen knife with his name engraved on it. Lunch was excellent at a French-Japanese restaurant. Overall great value tour that I highly recommend.
