  • Greatland Adventures

    The Matanuska Glacier is one of Alaska's premiere destinations.  At 27 miles long and 4 miles wide it is Alaska's largest glacier accessible by road.  It also is boasts one of the most accessible areas to walk on of any glacier in Alaska.  Marvel at ice that formed thousands of years ago high in the Chugach Mountains.

  • Matanuska Glacier

    Your day will start with a magnificent scenic drive along the Glenn Highway with stunning mountain vistas and plenty of time for photo stops.  Next we will drive to the toe of the glacier to dawn our ice cleats and begin exploring the glacier by foot. Each day is unique due to the dynamic nature of the glacier. We generally spend two hours and walk three miles on the ice.  After exploring the glacier we will have lunch at a local eatery with stunning views of the glacier and surrounding scenery. Each tour will be customized to suit your groups interest. This is a once in a lifetime bucket list opportunity to explore glacial ice!

Great tour of the glacier

My mom and I did our tour with Bill. We had a great time, we were able to do a long walk and see a lot of different places on the glacier. The pick-up, ride and tour were smooth and very professional. We enjoyed our hike and our lunch at the lodge. Bill was a great guide and I recommend this tour if you’re in the Anchorage area and want to explore the glacier.

The glacier tour was an incredible experience! Our guide Megan was punctual in picking us up and took us on an amazing hike across the glacier. She very enthusiastic, helping us take lots of great photos and providing fascinating insights into the natural landscape along the way. The restaurant she took us to afterward was charming, with delicious food that perfectly wrapped up the day. Highly recommend this activity!

Had a wonderful experience going on the hike in Matanuska Glacier with Bill and Dawn. They had walked us through the history and the science behind the glaciers. A must visit experience in Anchorage Ak. Got some glacier ice back home to drink it!!
