The Lower East Side is the ultimate immigrant neighborhood. A popular place for newly arrived immigrants to New York going back to the 1840's, the Lower East Side has seen large immigrant populations from Germany, Italy, Eastern Europe, the Caribbean and Asia. Join us for a walk through history as you learn why immigrants gathered in this area and why they left. Sample food from famous eateries in the area and see landmarks that tell the story of this unique neighborhood. This tour is perfect for food and history lovers of all ages!

Meeting points

The tour meets in front of the Eldridge Street Synagogue at 12 Eldridge Street. The guide will be outside, so do not enter the building. Our guide will be there to greet you 15 minutes before the tour, which begins promptly at 1:00pm.

Cameron was very knowledgeable about the history of the Lower East Side. The food stops were delicious and they all had a good history to them! My belly was full the entire time!

The Lower East Side food and neighbourhood walking tour was very informative. Our guide Conner certainly knew the history of the area. What a wealth of information he has, and all the best places to sample some delicious food along the way. Conner made the tour fun and interesting, definitely a must do tour!

Beef jerky and pickles as you have never tasted before!

We had a great time with our guide Gabi! She showed us the sites in the Lower East Side and took us places where we could eat bagels and bialys after starting us off with some excellent beef jerky. The highlight of the tour were the pickles though. Never seen so many pickled fruit and vegetables and they were all good! The sites were beautiful and the stories were great to listen to as Gabi told them with such enthusiasm. If you are into food, sites and stories, this is a must do.

I went on this tour with my daughter, sister and niece and we all really enjoyed this trip! Conner was very knowledgeable about the history of NY, really funny and very personable. He took us to some really great places to eat and made sure we got everywhere safely. He even went the extra mile after the tour to make sure that we knew exactly where to go to get back to our hotel. I highly recommend this tour and if you get the chance to request someone specific - then choose Conner and you will be guaranteed to have an awesome time!!
