Overview

It's almost 2 hours cooking class at Japanese local house near Shimogamo shrine. At the first 20min, we will explain the background of KINUGASA DON and all other dishes, and how to cook those. After cooking, let's enjoy eating and chatting together with the local We are very happy to share our real local culture with you. MoGu MoGu cooking class is located just 5 min away from Shimogamo shrine, and held by local Kyoto mother and daughter. The mother has been doing authentic Japanese cooking class with using organic/ pesticide-free ingredients for more than 35 years and the daughter helps her translate. This is the only class that you can enjoy cooking Kyoto's local rice bowl called "KINUGASA DON". We can accommodate dietary restrictions such as vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, etc. If you have dietary requirements. Please indicate it to the special requirements at the time of booking. Kinugasa-don is derived from the legend of Kinugasa-yama mountain near "Kinkaku-ji," the golden temple. In the Heian Period, Emperor Uda had the mountain covered with white silk to make it look like a snowcapped mountain, and enjoyed the winter scenery in summer. It is said that Kinugasa-don was named because the eggs on top of the rice look like that legendary scene. What's more, you also can enjoy cooking homemade TOFU by soy milk, MISO SOUP that you can pick your favorite ingredients, and homemade Japanese pickles. All our ingredients are free or less pesticides and other chemicals.
