Please enjoy this 60 minute journey through our Milky Way to explore the “High 5” visible in the Southern celestial hemisphere.

Meeting points

Stargazing venue to be communicated on day of activity. Stargazing is offered at several Oudtshoorn based Guesthouses.

Itinerary

  • Oudtshoorn

    Embark on a stargazing experience from several Oudtshoorn based guest houses on the outskirts of town which offer clear night skies. These guest houses are: Marriot Riempie Estate, Berluda Farmhouse and Cottages; De Zeekoe Guest Farm; Africamps and Surval Boutique Olive Estate. The stargazing starts from 8pm and times can be contracted as preferred. Guests who have booked accommodation at other guest houses can book supper at any of these stargazing venues and enjoy the stargazing after supper. Alternatively guests can only book the stargazing and arrive at the agreed time. During this experience of the celestial southern hemisphere, you will be introduced to the most prominent Stars, Galaxies, Globular Clusters, Constellations and Planets visible.

From the moment I booked for the experience all went smoothly. Lynette contacted me to confirm the weather for our outing. On Sunday morning she confirmed all is well. She arrived at our guesthouse. The experience was absolutely fantastic. Her knowledge and telescope was amazing. She is a lovely friendly lady. We will be back in September/October. Thank you for an experience of lifetime.

We had an amazing weekend in Oudtshoorn,but the highlight of the trip was definitely the stargazing tour. Our guide while being extremely friendly and passionate, was very well equipped and knowledgeable . This definitely enticed our interest in astronomy. Highly recommended
