Overview

This is a foodie immersion in real, ordinary San Sebastian to get a real sense of community, understand how locals live and eat as you learn about local history and culture. With every person that joins the tour, I help a person in need by donating a meal to the city's soup kitchen, you eat one you feed one! It's a 3h walking, where there's mostly eating and less than 10 mins-walk between each stop. We’ll go to 5 specially selected stops within two different neighbourhoods. You'll indulge and learn all about the unique culinary tradition of going out for pintxos! Pintxos pronounced 'pin-choss', these are different from tapas and imbedded in Basque culture. I'm going to show you how to navigate the local food scene and eat the best that this city has to offer. This experience is the kind of tour for people who hate the word 'tour' and genuinely travel for food and really want to get immersed in the culture and have fun.

Meeting points

We'll meet BEHIND the Good Shepherd Cathedral. In Spanish 'Catedral del Buen Pastor'. Meeting point is between CORREOS post office and library KOLDO MITXELENA. Meet your guide where white benches are. It's all a pedestrian area. Type Good Shepherd Cathedral in Google maps and walk BEHIND THE CHURCH.

A Wonderfull Food Tour

A wonderful food tour. A great way to expolore San Sabastion & meet some new friends. Mai you guide was very informative about the food, wine & history of the area. All the cafe/ resturants had something different to offer. It fun getting in with the locals & travellers alike. Teddy, young man you are a joy & a highlight of our tour. I would highly recommend this tour! We had such a fantastic experience trying Pintxos with Lily and Maider. As guides, they were both charming, fun and very knowledgeable about the bars, food and Basque culture. The foods and drinks were sampled were all completely delicious and well chosen, and each venue was a little different to show off a good range. We loved all the food, but especially the scallop at Casa Urola and cheesecake at La vina , despite the latter being very busy! It was also great in helping us work out what we wanted to do for the rest of out trip - visiting the steak restaurant Lily recommended which was fab too! Eskerrik Asko! Xx

Great family pintos tour

Dear Alin, thank you so much for an amazing tour. We have been to San Sebastian before but found the pintxos customs hard to navigate. It was a great idea to do this on our first day this time and we now feel much more confident what to look out for for the rest of our stay. You were so good with our 11 year old and he loved trying lots of different foods. Thanks for being so patient responding to his endless questions and making his experience so enjoyable. We also learnt loads about the region's history which was fascinating. The giving back initiative is also a brilliant idea. Well done to you all.
