Overview

Have you ever wandered through a huge museum wondering what you should be seeing, or perhaps feeling like you're missing out on something? Do you want to make the Bible come alive in a life-changing way? In this semi-private guided tour, you'll stand in front of ancient artifacts while discussing the Bible. You will get to connect Bible passages to the artifacts, then place it in a timeline so that you will understand the Bible like never before. Verses will no longer just be words on the page when you see an artifact from that same time period bring the passage to life. As you place each event on the timeline, you will understand how they relate to each other in history. Encounter 40-ton Assyrian statues, Egyptian pharaohs, Roman emperors and more. The artifacts range in age from 2000 - 3500 years old. The tour covers Mesopotamia, Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Persia, Greece and Rome.

Itinerary

  • The British Museum

    We start with the Assyrian, Egyptian and Greek galleries on the ground floor. We'll see 40-ton Assyrian lamassu beasts, statues of famous pharaohs and the Parthenon temple sculptures of Athens. We elbow our way to the front of the famous Rosetta stone and talk about its importance to history. After a break, we go upstairs to see the Egyptian, Mesopotamian, Babylonian, Persian, Greek and Roman galleries as time allows and your preference dictates. We'll look at Roman emperors, Persian tableware and drinkware that Esther and Nehemiah would have been familiar with, Egyptian mummies and a game that Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph would have played. We'll examine some weights that Daniel may have had in mind when he interpreted the handwriting on the wall for King Belshazzar. Some of the Biblical people we'll discuss: Egypt: Joseph, Moses, Abraham; Assyria: Jonah, Ahab, Hezekiah; Babylon: Daniel; Persia: Queen Esther, Nehemiah; Rome: Jesus; Greek: Paul

The best experience we have ever had with a guide in a museum

It is a must. Both entertaining and in depth. A new world will open and historical events will come alive. Has it exceeded my expectations? By 10 folds. I will certainly not only recommend David, but surely will come back to him again. To make more value for money,- he will send you a time line , almost a presentation of what he is going to talk, make sure you read it, you will regret if you don't. David can go as deep as you like , the Bible will not be a boring book for you anymore, and you can see a real proof of its historical value, and many events you will know why they happened. He has a great sense of humour talking gazing though thousands of years of history. My wife wanted to skip it and bought it just for me , well all 3 hours she was with us , the only thing , it could be overwhelming. Come fresh and light, it is something you will never experience. I don't think you can top what David offers, value for money? 100%

British Museum - history guide ancient civilisation and bible exploration

It is a must if you go to a British Museum and are interested in biblical history , or interested in a history of the biggest empires such Assyria, Babilon, Persia, Greece and Rome expect a very in-depth view, you will be pleasantly surprised. You will not read that in books - it is a blend of knowledge, experience and knowing what is actually in the museum.

This Tour far surpassed our expectations. David, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable and so enthusiastic about the stories and facts behind the exhibits. Having taught the Bible for around 50 years, we were so encouraged to hear and see so much evidence of the historical and factual accuracy of this amazing book. Perhaps all clergy, ministers, pastors and Bible teachers ought to sign up for the Tour? We will definitely consider re-visiting the Museum and also encourage others to undertake the experience.

David was incredibly knowledgeable and it made for such a great evening out. I can't imagine visiting the British Museum without him as a tour guide! He made everything make sense and made scripture come alive by mapping artefacts in the room.
