Itinerary

    We drive by HellisheiĂ°arvirkjun powerplant, one of the world's most powerful geothermal powerplant! It is situated on a plateu right outside of ReykjavĂ­k and is surrounded by active hot springs and a moss covered lava field!

    After snapping some drive-by photos of the beautiful mossy scenery and the breathtaking view of the South Coast from top of the plateau, we stop in a small village called HveragerĂ°i. In HveragerĂ°i, we stop by a wonderful bakery and there's access to restrooms!

  • Faxi (Vatnsleysufoss) Waterfall

    While it may be a lot smaller than Gullfoss, this stop offers an intimacy to nature not afforded by every other stop. You can get so close to the waterfall that you can almost touch it!

  • Gullfoss Waterfall

    The golden waterfall is in the canyon of Hvítá and nothing short of a spectacular scenic view. When the weather conditions are safe, you can even walk all the way down to the waterfall.

  • Geysir

    Geysir is arguably the most famous hot spring in Iceland. There’s not a whole lot of action these days but Strokkur (right next to it) erupts every 5-8 minutes or so. Make sure to have your camera ready to catch that amazing natural phenomenon.

    If time permits, we instruct our guides to stop by a couple of photogenic horses and even to stop by Efsti Dalur farm, where you can try some delicious ice cream. The Golden Circle is smack full of interesting places and vantage points, which make both driving and the sightseeing stops a day-long joy!

  • Thingvellir National Park

    Last but certainly not least, Þingvellir National Park is an area of tremendous historical importance for Iceland. It’s where the first parliament was established in 930 AD. Not only is it a scenic beauty but you’ll be exploring one of the longest-running political establishments in Europe. We’re not finished! Because of the geographical location of Þingvellir, it is possible to walk from the North American to the European tectonic plate. Talk about a bucket list item!

Amazing views

If you’re coming to Iceland for the first time or if you haven’t experienced the views of the Golden Circle this is a great tour. Monika was a fantastic tour guide and showed us around the city as well as the golden circle while giving great details and facts of history along the way. She was super knowledgeable and very enthusiastic and I am happy that I had her as my tour guide.

Not to be missed experience

Booked through the tourist office (wasn’t available with tour company) an absolutely amazing trip which we would whole heartedly recommend. Taking in many of the must-see sights such as the Golden waterfall, we were lucky enough to see a rainbow over the falls, the Geysir, lunch at the tomato farm and finishing with a lovely relaxing couple of hours on the Secret Lagoon. We can’t speak highly enough of our wonderful fun guide Monika who made sure we made the best of each location and she was a wealth of knowledge about the island. Absolutely lovely lady ❤️

This was an amazing day. The scenery and the geology were incredible and Evo, our guide, made everything come alive with his knowledgeable and interesting commentary. Nothing was too much trouble for him. His aim was to make sure we all had the best day and we totally did. Professional and friendly everything ran smoothly and we couldn't have asked for more.
