Overview

This cruise takes you on an adventure in to the wilderness. Starting in the busy Glenfinnan area where we describe all the sights and detail the history of the village both old and modern. We soon whisk you off down the loch to the land of eagles, deer, Harry Potter landmarks and the home of the MacDonalds of Glenaladale. Gaskan cottage was the home of well known naturalist Mike Tomkies for many years whilst he studied and wrote of the local wildlife, especially the eagles and wildcats there. It can only be accessed by boat or very long walk so this part of the loch is very serene and unspoilt. This cruise returns to Glenfinnan jetty.

Itinerary

  • Glenfinnan Viaduct

    We tell you the history of the viaduct and its celebrity status from its use in the Harry Potter films.

    5 minutes

  • Loch Shiel

    We take you on a 2.5 hour cruise down the loch as we explain the history, geology, cultural significance, Harry Potter landmarks and look out for wildlife. Golden eagles, Red deer, Black throated divers, mergansers, goosanders, cormorants, ospreys, and other birds of prey can be seen frequently on this delightful cruise.

    We tell you the history of the monument, explain its significance and detail the journey made by "Bonnie Prince Charlie" up Loch Shiel

An excellent cruise, led by a skilled and competent skipper. We were delighted to see White-tailed sea eagles on reaching Gaskan and were given plenty of time to get some photographs. Very informative commentary on places of interest along the way. Would definitely book again if we are up this way!

Beautiful relaxing trip in style.

Great cruise trip with our Son and lovely Daughter in Law We were with a great Captain and his wife who looked after us like Royalty. Excellent time well described and we saw the Eagles . The weather was a bit poor but it did not spoil the day. Would totally recommend this to anyone interested in a relaxing time in some of the most beautiful scenery in Scotland.
