Overview

This guided tour is very organized and adheres to a schedule we modify to continue to provide the best experience. Please note that our tour spends the longest time in Tolantongo, allowing you to truly enjoy your time in Tolantongo without feeling rushed by your tour company throughout the day. Our guides are extremely fluent in their English language skills. Most have lived a major part of their life in the United States and or Canada. We provide comfort in our transportation, by not allowing our vehicles to be cramped and tight with too many guests. Our guides also have a good relationship with the community of employees that work in Tolantongo. Our mutual respect for one another allows for a better experience for our guests than you could imagine. Our guides are given a fair wage for their excellent service.

Meeting Point

The meet up spot is along the rotunda on the side of the street facing the Angel of Independence monument to its left, closest to CitiBanamex and the Sheraton Isabel hotel.

What To Expect

1. We will meet at the "Angel de Independencia" approximately around 6:15am, departing early to escape the city chaos. Our group will have private comfortable transportation. We will stop for an early breakfast in Actopan, a city halfway to our destination. travel time to the restaurant is approximately 90 minutes. 2 hours

2. Actopan Vegetarian friendly options with limited vegan options. Breakfast is on us. 1 hour

3. We will pass by the quiet town of San Cristobal, Hgo. This is the town and community that owns las Grutas de Tolantongo. The drive from breakfast to this spot will be approximately 90 minutes. Along the way, we will briefly stop for any missing supplies you may be needing for the day's adventure. 2 hours

4. Tolantongo The day is divided into three parts. Pool Tranquility: Start your day relaxing a while in the “pocitos”; naturally warm thermal pools that provide astounding views that soothe & clear the body and mind –perfect for “the gram.” From here, there is a zip-lining options to get you down to the next part of our day at the river. Please note that zip lining is not included in the price of the tour (200 Mexican pesos). Our guide will make sure to have all the essentials you will need for the day. Drive from the breakfast stop to actually touching the water is typically two and a half hours. Actual time spent at the pools is roughly one hour and forty minutes. 2 hours

5. Tolantongo River Relaxation: Next, the turquoise-colored river is well-managed and is naturally warm due to the thermal springs, a complete relaxing experience. Lunch will be alongside the river (weather permitting). Lunch is not included. We provide a menu that you can place your order from to save time and better enjoy the river. We will collect your lunch total during the day. Tables and chairs are included. Please note that the time spent includes time it takes to move around throughout the day. 3 hours

6. Grutas Tolantongo Cave Exploration: Finally, you will see awe-inspiring waterfalls and unexpected adventure that our guests have described as “life changing.” Our guides will take you to explore the caverns and tunnels located here. Enjoy the water falls covering the caves and take a swim in the warm pool inside the mountain. We will head out by 5:30PM arriving between 9-10:30PM, full of new experiences and photos to share with envious family and friends. 2 hours

7. We will make a stop on the way home to try a few pastes (samples). Pastes are traditional English treat that was left behind by the English miners that once worked the mines in Hidalgo. Think flaky crust (croissant) stuffed with Mexican savory or sweet delights. Similar to an empanada. Time spent here is typically 15 minutes, but is two hours away on the way back to CDMX. 2 hours

8. Final stop to get you home. From the pastes to CDMX, the trip should be under two hours, weather and traffic permitting. 1 hour

Once in a lifetime experience!

This was the best and most organized trip! My family of four loved every minute of it! Yes, the drive is long but it is broken up with stopping for breakfast, stopping to prepare for the pools, so it really didn’t seem as long! The pools themselves our breath taking and once in a life time opportunity to see! My kids loved hopping around them. BUT we all thought the caves were the coolest experience we ever had. I can’t say enough about our tour guide, Lalo, who was an expert and made everyone comfortable and welcome. If you are visiting CDMX, you must do this!

Great hospitality from Alex and JC! This tour group has all of the little details planned, from fresh towels after a day of swimming, water and snacks, and the interesting information shared along the way. We had a wonderful time! Lots of fun

This was amazing! You drove for hours out into the desert before getting to these aqua blue hot springs and the river. The caving was neat, the air was so warm it made breathing hard (a first for us in a cave). The hot springs were really neat to try out, the warmer ones toward the top, and they have an underground one as well. You then went to the caves and explored those, saw some bats, went under waterfalls. You ended with lunch by the river and swimming before the long ride back. This was a great day trip but not the best for you if you get super car sick!

Tolantongo was honestly one of the most amazing things I have ever experienced. We had a good amount of time at each spot and never felt rushed. Exploring caves was super cool and unexpected. I did ziplining for an extra 250 pesos and STRONGLY recommend it. The view was just unbelievable.
