Depart from Nagoya together with an English-speaking National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter who will tell you all about the post towns of Tsumago and Magome on this full-day tour! You can also experience a relaxing walk along approximately 3.3 kilometers of the Nakasendo Trail. The guide will lead you along roads that were once tread by samurai, so you don't need to worry about getting lost. Take a slip through time to the Japan from 400 years ago. Visit an area that is one of Japan's first Preservation Districts for Groups of Traditional Buildings and which has been gathering attention as an international sightseeing spot. The Tourist Information Center is located inside a large hallway with shops, which connects the two main exits of the station. Your guide will be waiting in front of the Tourist Information Center holding a welcome board with your name.

Magome Tourist Information Center

The post town sits on a sloped area that stretches for about 600 meters. The road is paved with stones, and lined with houses that evoke the richness of Japan's history. Take a stroll around Magome where visitors will find a large waterwheel, old Japanese folk houses, historical stone monuments, and more.

Odaki-Medaki Waterfalls (Pass By)

The tour will walk approximately 3.3 kilometers along the Nakasendo Trail which connects the 2 beautiful post towns of Magome and Tsumago. The tour will take a stroll while enjoying the beautiful valley and rural area scenery with stone-paved streets and Japanese cedar trees. *Due to disaster recovery work being conducted on sections of the Nakasendo Trail, the walking experience may be canceled, and transportation for part or all of this section of the tour may be made via bus.
Nakasendo Tsumagojuku

Tsumago is Japan's first post town to preserve its district, creating an area that has seemingly stopped in time 400 years ago.

Head to the Nagisomachi Museum (Tsumago-juku Waki Honjin Okuya). Honjin, the post town's main inn, is where the feudal lords and other people of high status stayed.

Beautiful trip, the scenery and history is amazing. We had lunch at a local restaurant that was very good. Lily was a wonderful guide. Recommend 100%.

We enjoyed being with our lovely guide Yama-san, which made the travel easy. The walk was scenically rewarding, it was great to be active, and the tour was really interesting

A unique walking tour taking us back to Japan in olden days

This unique walking tour takes us back to Japan in the old days. We had an excellent guide Ms Takako Tsujimoto who is proficient in English and well prepared. She patiently explained everything on every stop we made and made our group (there were 4 of us) enjoyed so much that we managed to complete the 8km without much difficulty. The tour should not be used if you are keen on Japanese history and culture.

Our guide Ms Takako Tsujimoto was excellent. She is proficient in English and is well prepared. She patiently explained the history and culture of every stop we made, and made our 7-km walking trail very enjoyable. This tour is strongly recommended for anyone who is interested in Japanese history.
