Overview

Grateful to be whale watching this season from Lahaina, Maui! Eye-level whale watching onboard our low-to-water small group rafts. Native Hawaiian owned and voted TripAdvisors Traveler's Choice, Hawaii Ocean Rafting has been Maui’s original ocean rafting experience for more than 30 years. Our small group tours make for a fun, family style experience. Although whales are protected in Hawaii, they often approach our small boats for closer and eye level whale encounters. *New* rafts this season! After the loss of our boats in the Lahaina fire, we are grateful to be operating 3 rafts this whale season! "Kai"- 30 passengers, bench style seating, 80% shade "Aloha"- 20 passengers, bench style seating, 80% shade "Naia" 15 passengers, saddle style seating, 30% shade We are just a short drive from Kaanapali, Kahana, Napili, Kapalua and other West Maui accommodations. And a fun destination for visitors staying in Kihei or Wailea.

Meeting points

CHECK IN 30 minutes prior to tour at Dive Maui Shop: 1223 Front Street, Lahaina. Park near Lahaina Cannery Mall and walk toward the ocean to Front Street, go south and over the bridge. Dive shop is on the right before the blue building. Some roads are closed in the area, give yourself extra time.

Itinerary

2 Hour or 1.5 Hour Eye-Level Adventure Whale Watch Tour (Seasonal Dec-April) *New* Temporary location and vessels for season 23/24 due to the loss of our boats in the Lahaina wildfires. Same great eye-level whale watching onboard a low-to-water small group adventure raft or monohull boat. Hawaiian owned and voted TripAdvisors Traveler's Choice, we've been Maui’s original ocean rafting experience for more than 30 years. Our small group tours of 20 guests or less make for a fun, family style experience. Although whales are protected in Hawaii and we do not approach them closer than regulations, they sometimes approach our small boats for those eye level whale encounters. Tour includes searching for active whales and stopping to watch them, a full narration of whale and Maui facts by our marine naturalist, listening to whale songs on a hydrophone and lots of photo ops! Whale encounters and closeness of whales vary based on the wild animal's chosen behavior. Time of day does not affect whale activity. * Whale encounters vary in their natural environment, the wild. No up close guarantee. *NO PREGNANT PERSONS or children under 3 years.

Loved my whale watching trip with the best Captain Jack and Jess! There were only 6 passengers & we followed a female being chased by males and saw several other’s too. Hope to be back next February!

Great experience with CJ and Nicole! Both of them were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Amazing experience watching the whales swim near by, under the boat on their own accord, and spy hop!

We were blessed with a pair of breaching whales that put in a 20 minute show! Rate and spectacular! Mark and Nicole were awesome tour guides. They were fun and funny. The boat size was an awesome experience for us too.

The tour was marvelous and unforgettable! Our guides Jill and Brie are very passionate, professional and knowledgeable. The fun stories of humpback whales they shared with us made the tour so warm and special. We were able to see whale families breach and slap fins and tails. Incredibly stunning and beautiful!!! We took a bunch of amazing photos. I would LOVE to recommend Hawaii Ocean Rafting to my friends and families. I look forward to coming back again!
