This full day tour (7-8 hours) is a combination of historic and panoramic tours...
We organized a small (10 people) group from our cruise ship during our port visit in March this year. The day tour was expertly co-ordinated by Bahia Metisse and expertly run by our tour guide Nicholas.
We spent first couple of hours exploring the Pelourinho, by foot, directly from the port and then boarded our van-car to see the rest of the city... including Itapagipe peninsula (lower city): Ribeira area, the famous Bonfim church and its brazilian ribbons, the Monte Serrat fort and Boa viagem offering a magnificent view on Salvador. We also passed by the Barra lighthouse and the Tororo lake with its huge sculptures of the Orixas.... (spirits of the afro Brazilian religion, the Candomblé). We had a nice lunch in small typical restaurant with local food. The final stop was a visit the fantastic Sao Joaquim market.
Well recommended by all in our group and reasonably priced.
