Rethymnon Old Town

Rethymno is the third biggest town in Crete west of Heraklion on the north coast of Crete. Here monuments of the archaeological, Ottoman, and Venetian eras co-exist. A stroll in the alleys of the old town, a visit to the Turkish minarets and the Venetian fortresses, or a coffee at the magnificent harbor are some of what you can do while you visit.

Lighthouse of Chania

Chania is considered by many as the "little Venice" of Crete. Chania is the second largest town of Crete on the north coast west of Rethymno. The city of Chania is divided into the Old City, with the gorgeous harbor and the New City, beyond its Venetian fortifications. The Old City is one of the most beautiful cities in the Mediterranean and is called “Venice of the East”. You can find Turkish minarets and mosques, Muslim neighborhoods, Venetian fortresses, dockyards, fountains, squares, arches, mansions, and the lighthouse. Visit the famous Agora (market), which houses traditional little shops and taverns. Here you can buy souvenirs or leather goods for very good prices.

Lake Kournas

Kournas lake a beautiful habitat with natural freshwater, one of a kind in Crete. The whole area of Kournas is protected under 'Natura 2000', as it's a designated wetland. Vast greenery, steep cavities between hills, rare species of fish and birds, make Kournas the ideal place to enjoy an early afternoon walk.

We could not open the...

We could not open the Viator app at our hotel, not sure why as we already downloaded it as soon as we change the SIM card. Any way, we contacted tour operators on WhatsApp a few times to work it out on pickup location. The agent was very professional, calm, and made arrangements for a different location for us to catch the bus in a timely fashion. I m very appreciative for his support and you can certainly trust the tour operator.

Lovely bus ride and very good guide who kept us informed. Well organised and time to explore destinations. Would recommend to anyone wanting to explore with limited time.

Jewels of Western Crete

All Three are Jewels of Western Crete. The trip is a long one, but it is one that will not disappoint. Have a Coffee and a snack in Rethymno, then along the coast to Chania for Lunch, taking in the charming Cafes and restaurants of the Old Town Harbour. Then on the return trip, stop off and take a dip in Kournas Lake, or maybe a pedaloe ride. Stunning all the way there and back again.

A great way to see some of the wonderful towns and sights in Crete

Both towns are worth the visit, but especially Chania. The lake was a nice moment of relaxation at the end. But it's not just the towns and the lake, the views as you drive down the coast are amazing, and the drive through the hills and mountains even more so. The guide was also very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable throughout the day. On the face of it, It appears to be along day but it is well worth the time and money.
