This is a great experience for young and old. When we first ran across this event I thought it may be more kid oriented but I was wrong. The producers do a fabulous job of telling the about the history of Sumo, the rules and the traditions. I had no idea it was rooted not only in sportsmanship but also in religion.
You begin by watching some matches on a large screen while you eat a nice traditional Sumo meal. It is chicken and soup. The meal is good, but the entertainment and education is what you should go for. You get free tea and water, but must buy your alcohol. The drinks are reasonably priced. You are served by retired sumo wrestlers. That was a neat twist.
After the meal, they bring out two retired wrestlers. When we went we got to see one wrestler that had just retired after being ranked in the top 50 in the country. They explain the history of the sport, the rules, and what a day in the life of a sumo wrestler is like. The two wrestlers were professional but great sports, keeping it entertaining and funny. They do an excellent job of keeping the audience engaged and participating. You then get to see them wrestle. They were really good.
After, people from the audience get to try to wrestle the pros. That is funny. The everyone gets to take pictures.
I cannot recomend enough. Would give 6 stars if I could.
