Overview

Let us take you off this magnificent private day trip with mixture of culture, history & wine. You will explore the picturesque countryside and authentic castles, hear about the wine making process and sample several sorts of wine. You will see the most famous and best preserved castle in Croatia - Trakošćan castle, admire the beauty of the vineyards, visit the wine cellar and taste some of the best wine from the region. The entire trip is private for your group only with your individual English-speaking guide and entrance fees and wine tasting included in the price.

Itinerary

  • Trakoscan Castle (Dvor Trakoscan)

    Trip will start with pick-up at your hotel in Zagreb and drive north. After a pleasant drive through the beautiful countryside we will reach Trakoscan - most famous and best preserved Croatian castle. Castle was first built in the late 13th or early 14th Century as a small defensive fortress. Complex of Trakošćan we have today, a romanticist synergy of architecture and nature, is a result of 19th century. Castle was reconstructed in neo – gothic style and surrounding landscape including a lake emerged after the model of English park. You will see a valuable collection of paintings, furniture and weapons and enjoy walking around the picturesque surroundings of the castle.

    After the castle you will explore centuries old tradition of wine-growing and wine-making at ''Vuglec Breg''. A visit to the wine-cellar is a special experience for every guest and enjoyment in wine-tasting will bring a smile of delight to the lips of every wine enthusiast. After the wine tasting you can have lunch in a traditional restaurant serving seasonal and homemade products from the region of Zagorje (Lunch is optional).

Our guide/driver Luca was very personable. Trakascan Castle had an interactive AI that was fun and our wine tasting at Vuglic Breg was excellent!!!!

Fairy tale Castles and Wine Tasting

We had a marvelous day with Tomislav, he was on time to pick us up from the hotel. Very knowledgeable about the sights and such a great person to be with all day. We felt like we made a new friend in Croatia. He even helped us with dinner suggestions and reservations for that evening. We will always remember him as a friend in Croatia not just a guide.

We had a fantastic experience on this tour! The castles were beautiful and interesting. The wine tasting and visit to the vineyard was fun and we thought the value for the experience was top notch. Tomislav was a friendly and knowledgable driver; we had a great time with him!
