  • Basilica di Sant'Apollinare Nuovo

    Ravenna was the capital of the Western Roman Empire in the 5th century AD and later (6th–8th century) of Ostrogothic and Byzantine Italy. As the capital city of the Western Roman Empire for 250 years and a major port of entry for the Eastern (Byzantine) Empire, Ravenna reflects in its art and architecture a fusion of Roman architectural forms with Byzantine mosaics and other decoration.

  • Dante's tomb and Quadrarco of Braccioforte

    Whoever visits Ravenna fall in love for this charming town, even the Great Poet Dante Alighieri was impressed by Ravenna and spent here the last period of his life, in serene and undisturbed quiet, here he finished his major masterpiece, the Divine Comedy, and here you can visit his tomb.

    Ravenna is the only place is Italy where you can admire the Byzantine art and architecture, the highest expression of it is the Church of San Vitale, this octagonal church is built of marble and capped by a lofty terra-cotta dome, again here you will find exceptional mosaics depicting the Old and New Testament.

    You will visit the most ancient monument remaining in the city, a Roman religious building.

  • Mausoleo di Teodorico

    Reach the Mausoleum by taxi or bus with the tour guide. The Mausoleum was built by Theoderic in 520 AD, as his burial place. Entirely made of Istrian stone, its structure is divided into two decagonal orders placed one on top of the other.

    Have a relaxing walk in the city center

  • Archiepiscopal Museum

    Stop in the museum and see relics of early Christian Ravenna, such as the fragments of mosaic from the first cathedral church, and the chapel of Sant'Andrea.

Terrific way to see Ravenna

This tour took us to the sites in Ravenna but also to Basilica di Sant'Apollinare in Classe which is outside Ravenna and not included on the other tours that we searched. Wonderful mosaics, not to be missed! Our guide was great; the whole tour was a pleasure.
