You'll start your day driving out to Cajun Country, where you'll go through wild cypress swamps, over the Mississippi River on an impressive suspended bridge, and along vast sugarcane fields, as the guide tells a unique story of the odyssey of the Cajun people. Next take a thrilling high-speed airboat ride as you comfortably glide over marshes and into deep, secluded bayous. Your Cajun guide, also an alligator hunter and fur trapper, will share his knowledge of the swamp including reptile habits, healing plants, and exotic birds. After your ride, explore his picturesque swamp zoo on Bayou Boeuf.
Laura Plantation: Louisiana's Creole Heritage Site

Discover Laura, an 1804 Creole Plantation and learn about Laura's personal family saga. See how the West-African enslaved's work influenced all segments of the Creole culture, best seen today in cuisine, music, family-centered traditions, architecture and life-style. At Laura's Slavery Museum Exhibit, hear personal stories of individual men, women and children who lived there, illustrating how the lives of the enslaved, both Créole and American, were intertwined with those of their owners.

Houmas House and Gardens

After a short drive from Laura Plantation, you'll settle into a seated lunch in Houmas House' elegant dining room. After lunch, walk through the 250 year history of this estate and how a succession of owners and the Mississippi River grew this modest manor house into the estate it is today. A collection of art, furniture, and antique artifacts help tell the story of plantation life. 38 acres of gardens surround the mansion.

Our tour guide Rene is a wonderful host to visitors of New Orleans. He brings the city he loves to life with personal stories and historical facts. It was a great day and highly recommended. Isabelle was very helpful booking our tour. She and Rene made our first trip to NOLA special!

A great way to experience NOLA in a short amount of time! The two plantation tours were so interesting and the lunch was great. The airboat ride was fun and our airboat captain was fantastic. It was nice and relaxing to have the activities and lunch taken care of and our tour van driver, Ellen, was very knowledgeable. Highly recommend and would 100% use Tours by Isabelle again.

Perfect tour for an animal loving history buff.

Perfect day!! We were picked up in front of our hotel by Rene from Tours by Issabelle. Rene was an excellent tour guide. Rene gave us a great history of the area and information about the sites we were going to visit. The first stop was the airboat swamp tour. We all loved it so much. The swamp was beautiful with tons of birds, and we saw an alligator even though the temperature was cool. The second stop was Houmas House. We started with a delicious buffet lunch and then a tour of the estate home. Ruby our guide, was fun and very informative. After the house tour, there was time to check out the beautiful grounds of the estate. The third stop was of the Laura Plantation. It is a totally different experience. The Plantation house is very different from Houmas House. Our tour guide was Lee. He gave us a very informative tour as well. We toured the Laura House and one of the slaves homes. They have a very nice gift shop to visit after the tour. We drove back to New Orleans after an active and full day.

Alligators, Airboats and Beautiful Houses

Really enjoyed this trip . We were picked up promptly by our driver and guide , John and went straight to the Airboats . Great ride and a very informative Captain .Saw lots of wildlife including alligators, turtles and lots of different Birds . Then on to 2 very different houses ,one a creole sugar plantation and the second one a grand southern plantation which once was the largest one in the south . We had a delicious Southern style buffet lunch . Both plantations had great guides who bought history alive..I highly recommended this trip .

We had a FANTASTIC time! We got picked up at our hotel by Rene and he gave us an excellent commentary about New Orleans and all that it has to offer as we drove to our destinations. He even recommended music venues and restaurants. We would recommend this tour 100%, it's a must do for anyone visiting New Orleans.
