I booked a very last minute trip to Kenya/ Masai Mara with explorer. It was a solo private tour as had fixed dates. I emailed Francisca/ Robert a week or 2 before. There was a lot of back and forth and quotes for different options. The team was always accommodating and very quick to respond to my queries and changes in plans. They managed to put me up at the hotel of my choice. I am a seasoned traveler and tried very hard to arrange my own masai mara trip, but the price was working out exhorbitant. Explorer kenya beat any price I could get and arrangements were top class. The vehicle was spacious and clean - land cruiser 4×4. It even had charging ports fir emergency. Guide was always punctual. The guide was terrific - samuel spotted cheetahs long before other groups. He has a good relationship with local masai game rangers. He was always friendly and smiling, had a vast knowledge of animals and Kenya in general. Great company for the trip. He was also a very competent, safe driver. The masai itself is great. Saw a lot of lions and cheetahs on both days of safari. Watched an unsuccessful cheetah hunt. Be aware though the mara doesn't seem to have restrictions on vehicles per big game sighting. Sometimes there were 15 to 25 vehicles on a sighting. I am not sure if this is fair on animals. And this part is better at Kruger National Park - all private conservancies limit sightings to 2/3 game vehicles.

I just returned from Safari with John Kariuki, it was excellent, he made every effort to ensure, we had the best Experience possible. John is Kind, thoughtful, funny,and dedicated to his work. He made our experience perfect,making sure we were able to see and enjoy every aspect of our journey, he excel's in patience while searching out animals, for our viewing pleasure. I would highly recommend John!

John Kariuki was a kind, fun, and informative guide. His humor kept us on our toes. We learned a lot, and he took us to such great places. I would not come to Kenya without John’s expertise and safe driving! I recommend him highly!!

Martin (Kamau) was a Fantastic guide! We had a group of adults with special needs and Martin was always quick and willing to help. He answered all our crazy questions and if he didn't know the answer he would find out for us. Very kind and knowledgeable.
