Overview

Uncover the secrets of the historic mountain town of Banff with a local guide leading the way as you gaze at stunning views and visit key landmarks. This morning journey takes you to some of the best sightseeing viewpoints including Bow Falls, Lake Minnewanka and the “oh wow!” view at Surprise Corner of the 'Castle in the Rockies'. Keep in mind that some stops could be closed pending the season. Plus, enjoy hot chocolate (in winter) or water (in summer) and maple cookies at one of the scenic stops. It's a complete orientation to Banff and a great tour for seeing wildlife in the morning! This tour is the perfect introduction to Banff as you hear stories about the local history and animals, while keeping your eyes out for local wildlife.

All guests must wait at the public bus parking located behind the Mount Royal Hotel at 138 Banff Ave. You must be ready 5 minutes prior to the 8:15am departure time.

    Visit Lake Minnewanka, Banff's largest lake, and hear stories about the underwater ghost town.

  • Bow Falls

    See Bow Falls roaring rapids, as water crashes over ancient limestone creating a spectacle of sound and sight. These falls were featured in several classic Hollywood films of the 1950s including 'River of No Return' with Marilyn Monroe.

  • Surprise Corner

    This viewpoint gives an iconic view of the “Castle Of The Rockies” against the backdrop of Sulphur Mountain with the majestic Bow River in the foreground.

  • Hoodoos Trail

    Learn about the hoodoos from your guide as you look out over this impressive viewpoint.

  • Bankhead Ghost Town

Great way to start your Banff experience

After a busy time getting into Banff we were keen to make the most of our time. We did this tour and finished at the Gondola. What a great morning. Annik our guide was a font of information on the history and nature of Banff. We saw the hot springs at sunrise and stumbled onto some playful otters in the lake. The grazing elk were also amazing as was the birdie. Annik was great fun as well as helpful with our plans. We enjoyed the gondola and Annik arranged our pick up by another helpful guide Buck. Highly recommend this as a great informative tour

Best Tour Guide—Georgia

Georgia was simply the best tour guide. We have been on dozens of tours but her positive outlook, love of the area, and extensive knowledge of Banff made the experience perfect. We saw Elk, Deer, Surprise Corner and stopped at the Fairmont. She offered to take photos and the hot chocolate and cookies topped off the experience. Highly recommended!

Great Introduction to Banff

The wildlife was a little shy on our tour. However Jake, our driver and guide made up for that with lots of information delivered with good humour. Plenty of of photo opportunities of the great scenery to give a great introduction to Banff and the national park

Our guide was Ros. She was very knowledgeable and explained so much. We saw quite a few Elk on our way round and, if safe, she was stopping or slowing down to enable the group to get some photos. We felt this was a good value tour, compared to others we have done in the area.

We had the most marvelous tour guide and driver, Jake from the UK. He was both informative and amusing, a rare combination. And the tour hit all the local high points in the surrounds of Banff town. A grand experience.
