Overview

Visit Canada's famous glaciers on a full-day seasonal excursion from Banff. Your personalized small group tour takes you through an awe-inspiring landscape carved by glaciers and remnants from the last ice age, as you travel along the Icefields Parkway, one of the world's most scenic highways.

Meeting points

All guests must wait at the public bus parking located behind the Mount Royal Hotel at 138 Banff Ave. You must be ready 5 minutes prior to the 7:42am departure time.

Itinerary

  • Columbia Icefield Discovery Centre

    Departing from the centre, you'll climb aboard the Ice Explorer (a six-wheeled behemoth of a vehicle) and drive across the surface of this glittering sheet of ice. Getting thirsty? You’ll have a chance to drink pure, cold water straight from the glacier. Them, be transported to the glass floor Glacier Skywalk, hanging from the edge of the Sunwapta Valley at 918-foot (280 m), for unparalleled views of the canyon below and mountains around you.

  • Icefields Parkway (Pass By)

    This tour travels halfway along the world-famous Icefields Parkway, recognized as one of the top drives in the world passing numerous Rocky Mountain peaks, glaciers, waterfalls and emerald lakes.

  • Crowfoot Glacier

    A brief stop provides one of the day’s many up close glacier views.

    5 minutes

  • Bow Lake

    You will visit Bow Lake, one of Banff National Park's largest lakes. Bow Lake is fed by meltwater from the Bow Glacier in the Wapta Icefield and lies at the base of Bow Summit.

Epic must do tour!

This is a must-do tour! Checked all the boxes - definitely an epic experience. Tour guides were friendly, informative and helpful. Bring a spare battery and be prepared to be amazed by the beauty that Banff National Park and the Icefield Parkway (top 10 must do drive - check it and see for yourself) have to offer.

Amazing tour for the Columbia Icefield and Bow Lake

This tour was amazing! My family and I had a great time visiting the Bow Lake, Payto Lake, Columbia Icefield, and the Skywalk! The tour guide Kaya, was very friendly and knowledgable. The tour involved some easy hikes that my 67-year-old Mom could manage. The icefield was unexpectedly warm and sunny on the day we went. However, we love the Bow Lake very much! It was breathtakingly beautiful! The packed lunch they provided was also plenty that we could eat for two meals. Highly recommended!

A Great Day out

Excellent day with a great tiur guide in Jake ( best looking toyr guide!!) who was informative , approachable and funny. Visited lakes and another Glacier on the way to and from the Athabasca Glacier. The visit onto the Glacier was well organised and exciting and well worth the long day. Lunch was provide which was excellent, filling and tasteful. A thoroughly enjoyable day.

Our tour guide TIM! tim was amazing. He was so informative about everything - he made sure we all had our washroom stops and lunch breaks & showed us so many beautiful stops along the way. Hopefully when you book you get lucky enough to have Tim as your tour guide!

Picked up from our accommodation. Tour guide/ Driver was very knowledgeable about the glacier park as well as the flora and fauna and on way we saw a bear!The tour bus was comfortable. A good day tour from Banff
