Meeting points

Our guide will be waiting by the marble fountain in Giraldo Square. He will identify himself as the Évora Cultural Experience guide and will call the name of the person who made the reservation. The guide will wait a maximum of 30 minutes for any delay, which will be deducted from the total time.

    Brief introduction of the history of the city of Évora in the history of Portugal. Contemplation of various architectural aspects and historical context of buildings and monuments.

    Admire different aspects of typical Alentejo handicrafts

  • Cathedral of Evora (Se Catedral de Evora)

    Outside visit to Évora Cathedral and information about the historical and architectural context. The visit to the interior of the cathedral is not included in the tour and, if you wish to visit it, it will have to be done later, at the end of the tour.

  • Templo Romano de Evora (Templo de Diana)

    Visit and historical and cultural framework of the Roman temple of Évora.

  • Igreja de Nossa Senhora de Graca

    Visit and historical and cultural framework of the church, one of the great constructions of the Portuguese Renaissance and Mannerism.

  • Palacio de Dom Manuel

    Visit and historical and cultural framework of King Manuel's palace, with interpretation of the building's exterior.

Great Tour of Evora!

We had a wonderful three hour walking tour of Evora with Joao ('John"). The morning that our tour was scheduled there was torrential rain- i wondered if it would be cancelled- but no- our guide showed up right on time and off we went. Luckily the rain stopped toward the beginning of the tour. Our tour guide grew up in the area and is a grad student at the university there. Joao was so very knowledgeable about the history of the city , Portugal , and each of the landmarks that we visited- we learned so much and saw many sites . It was very fun and interesting. He had stories about each landmark that are not the usual things you might read in books. He tailored our tour to sites that he thought would interest us based on our background. It was probably the best walking tour we had during our time in Portugal. Would highly recommend this tour guide and company!

Elsa was wonderful. She's an excellent tour guide. We had her as a private tour guide. Her wealth of knowledge as a historian gives the history of Evora in depth.

Evora is worth the trip from Lisbon

Taking a bus out to Evora from Lisbon to meet a local guide is well worth the trip. We had such fun and learned a lot. We could have spent more time in Evora but hey...go, go, go!!!

Our guide Joao was incredible! He knew so much about the history of the city and he presented it in an interesting and engaging fashion. A city like Evora has such a long history but Joao was able to give us an overview that gave us a better understanding of Evora and Portugal itself. We would recommend anyone visiting Evora to start their visit with Joao’s tour.
