Overview

During your journey, your driver/guide will give you all the explanations about the grape varieties, the specificities of the left bank, the Appellations and the classification of Grands Crus Classés in 1855. Visits and tasting in three prestigious Médoc châteaux. You will take the legendary Route des Châteaux which winds between the most famous estates classified in 1855. A restaurant offering authentic French cuisine will welcome you around 12:30 p.m. for a pleasant meal, all together and with your guide. After about an hour's journey through the Bordeaux countryside, a first photo stop in front of this legendary castle on the left bank, and the 1855 Classification. It is also this castle which gave its name to the appellation.

In-depth discovery of the Château, its history, its vineyard as well as winemaking thanks to a visit to the vat room and the barrel cellar. Immerse yourself in the world of wine by immersing yourself in the secrets of the magical transformation of grapes. A tasting of the different grape varieties of 2012 will close the visit. Opened in 2006, in the center of the village of Bages, Café Lavinal takes its name from Berthe Lavinal, the grandmother of Jean-Michel Cazes. A nod to his childhood holidays spent in his parents' little country café near Villeneuve-sur-Lot. Adjoining Château Lynch-Bages, Café Lavinal is a privileged place where winegrowers and local customers like to meet to share generous cuisine in the heart of the Grands Crus Classés terroir of Pauillac. Warm and friendly, the restaurant offers traditional and tasty market cuisine, made with regional products. In the summer, its sunny terrace is appreciated for its view and its location. The nugget of Saint-Estèphe The golden yellow color of Château Lafon-Rochet can be surprising when you venture onto Departmental 2 which winds through the largest Médoc vineyards. It is a color that is both bold and warm, like all those who participate in the production of its wines and who live to the rhythm of the vineyard with commitment and passion. At Lafon-Rochet, every intention, every gesture counts to preserve what is most precious: a complex and unique terroir on which the vines grow. Fab visits to Chateaux in the Medoc.

Our first visit was to Chateau du Tertre. We had a tour of the outside and then inside the Chateau. Then a tour of the cellars. They were preparing for the harvest. At the end of the visit we tasted several different wines. It was an exceptional visit. For lunch we stopped at Chateau Leoville Poyferre. We had lunch on the terrace which was platters of charcuterie and fromages and dips. Delicious. We were able to purchase wine by the glass or bottle which was exceptional. Our last visit and tasting was to Chateau Micalet, a small artisan wine. Delicious wine and interesting visit. Our guide Catherine was very helpful, knowledgeable and informative .

Catherine is a very knowledgeable host and we had the pleasure of visiting 8 wineries over 2 days. She worked with us for a bespoke tour that was perfectly executed. We had a very good time everywhere we went. We enjoyed the Left Bank, Right Bank, a UNESCO World Heritage tour & all with splendid meals. She has many contacts in the area and we had an absolutely lovely visit everywhere we went. We were treated to such wonderful hospitality. We will be booking Catherine again! Merci
