Overview

A rare evening Food Tour, our Village Nights Food Crawl visits 4-6 delicious and eclectic food spots, with our experienced, personable guide layering in rich history and interesting conversation along the way. We keep the group size to 8 so we can move like a group of friends rather than a boring old tour. Because we don't follow a fixed route, the sites and food spots we visit will vary, from the West Village to the East. We take input from the group, guide, and city to make each adventure exciting, memorable, and unique. The adventure starts at Astor Place, the historical heart of Manhattan, and ends near a cozy bar, and close to the subway.

Meeting points

We meet near Astor Place. Exact location sent with booking confirmation.

Itinerary

  • Astor Place

We start at the historical heart of Manhattan, Astor Place, where the Lenape congregated for hundreds of years before the arrival of Europeans. THIS IS A SAMPLE ITINERARY. We take input from the group, then draw from a big bag of options to make each outing unique.

    5 minutes

  • McSorley's Old Ale House

Start with a cheese plate and a beer at McSorley's - the oldest continuously operating bar in New York. Abe Lincoln drank here, and the place is absolutely dripping with curios and artifacts, since nothing's been removed from the walls since 1910.

They make their tortillas in house and they're maybe the best in the city. This place doesn't draw the eye but the food is outstanding and the staff is cool af.

    20 minutes

Visit the site of one of the most tragic and traumatic events in New York City history, where 146 garment workers were killed in a fire in 1911. This event helped transform labor practices in the United States and it's a story every American should know.

    5 minutes

  • Washington Square Park

Most tours blast through Washington Square, but we spend a little more time relaxing and learning the remarkable history of one of America's most important city parks.

    25 minutes

  • N/A

Mamoun's was the first falafel joint in NYC, opened in 1971 by a Syrian man named Mamoun. The business is now run by his sons, but 50 years later this incredible little hole-in-the-wall is still serving incredible falafel to comedians, musicians, and students all day and late into the night.

    10 minutes

  • Winston Churchill Square

Churchill Square is a magical little park that almost every visitor and local walks right past. We'll stop and hang out for just a few minutes. Vibes.

    5 minutes

Songs, stories, and stand up - they've all bubbled up from MacDougal. We'll stop and tell the story of one of the most culturally significant streets in America. And we might stop and get something to eat at Mamoun's, Pommes Frites, or...

This Latin/Indian fusion spot is owned by a woman with a Puerto Rican mom and an Indian father, and staffed by a largely Nepali crew. This place embodies the best of New York. Innovation, tradition, and hard work. The food is unique, colorful and delicious, and they play great music.

    20 minutes

  • Stonewall National Monument

Whether we drop in for a drink or stop in Christopher Park to soak up the vibe, the Stonewall is a must-visit in the West Village. Now a national monument, the Stonewall was the site of a pivotal 1969 uprising that galvanized the modern gay rights movement. One of many extremely influential cultural spots we'll visit in the West Village.

    5 minutes

Not your normal New York slice, but Two Boots is a vibrant and colorful shop with outstanding food and a friendly atmosphere. It's in a space that used to house a lesbian bar that refused to serve men, but today Two Boots welcomes everybody. Interesting things happen here.

These cookies really are life-changing. And Janie has a cute story of overcoming obstacles. It's a cute place with a friendly staff and truly amazing pie-crust cookies. Always worth a stop.

    5 minutes

Bleecker is full of bars, boutiques, and beautiful people. Not uncommon to see a world-famous face walk past.

  • Marie's Crisis

We end the night at Marie's Crisis Cafe is a delightful subterranean bar where you can sing along with a live piano player to your favorite show tunes. It's a great visit, even if Broadway isn't your thing.

WandeRing NYC: Highly Recommend!!!

Published on Jan, 2025

Morgan was absolutely incredible! His passion for Greenwich Village was contagious, and his deep knowledge of the neighborhood's history, architecture, and the artists who shaped it was truly fascinating. We visited some truly unique spots with incredible cultural significance, and Morgan's storytelling brought the past to life. But it wasn't just about the history ā€“ Morgan was incredibly engaging and genuinely interested in our feedback. He was even willing to customize the tour based on a specific request we had, which made the experience feel truly personal. Of course, the food was amazing, but it was so much more than just a food crawl. Morgan clearly knew the area inside and out, had strong relationships with the locals, and has a deep love for the city and its impact on the world. Highly recommend!

New Year's Walkabout with Friends

Published on Jan, 2025

Morgan began by sharing his goal was to plan an evening that was as comfortable as friends walking about town. He did a great job of asking us what we wish to tour to encompass; great food, conversation spots, secret hideaways. He came prepared to do a preplanned tour but did a great job of making suggestions and taking us to a variety of spots. Perfect for a quiet New Year's Eve walkabout.

Tasty & History!

Published on Nov, 2024

Morgan was a great tour guide, sharing a lot of history about the Greenwich Village area of NYC and also sharing some of his fave food spots. He offered us some say in our experience and that was appreciated. The food was all delicious and would be classed as casual, think taco and falafel sandwich with a donut and asian fusion joint thrown in. Lots of fun!

Great food, fun facts and chill with friends

Had a super relaxed time strolling around the city and discovering fun facts about it and having great food with friends.

Must Do: NYC with Morgan

Published on Nov, 2024

This was an incredible tour! 10/10 for our tour guide Morgan. Our work team had an amazing time on the Village Night tour. The food was awesome, but what really made the experience special was Morgan's passion for the city and the people that made and make it. His knowledge of NYC history, culture, and pop culture was impressive. He took us to special places like the Stonewall Inn and the Cafe Society, sharing fascinating stories along the way. Morgan was also super accommodating, customizing the tour to our interests and pace. We highly recommend him and his tours!
