Overview

You will visit the VanDusen Botanical Gardens, Nitobe Memorial Garden, Museum of Anthropology, and Queen Elizabeth Park. Enjoy and see and experience the colours of the seasons - spring, summer, and fall. At the VanDusen Botanical Garden, you will explore and learn about plants from every corner of the world, from the lowlands and highlands, from the rainforests and deciduous species; learn and understand the fragile ecosystem and First Nations influence. At Queen Elizabeth Park, see the florals of the season, have a photo session with the Photographers, watch the fabulous Dancing Water fountain. Next, the Museum of Anthropology, view exhibits of historic totem poles, and ethnographic objects come from around world, including the South Pacific, Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas. You will take a short walk over to the Nitobe Memorial Garden, via the Asian Centre and its Japanese landscaped garden and architecture. This tour is best from April till October.

    At the Museum of Anthropology, see and learn world arts and cultures with a special emphasis on the First Nations peoples and other cultural communities of British Columbia, Canada, including original carved totem poles, First Nations longhouses, and craftworks of masters like Bill Reid and Susan Point.

    Stroll the manicured gardens of the Little Quarry and the Main Quarry. Watch the fabulous Dancing Waters fountain. Take photo shots with the Photo Session, a bronze figurative sculpture of a man photographing three people, by J. Seward Johnson, Junior.

Don't Miss The Gardens!

Bobby was a great guide and took us to some of the most beautiful sites to see in Vancouver. The gardens and parks were spectacular! Bobby was very knowledgable about the wonderful gardens but also about Vancouver history. Highlight were the giant parrots!

I’ve been to many botanic gardens around the world and can honestly say this is one of the best. The architecture of the site is stunning. The different climate zones blend into one-another. And within each, the layered plantmanship is beautiful. The grounds are meticulously cared for; nothing is out of place. The whole garden comes together beautifully and is in harmony with the sustainable and self-sufficient visitor centre. We were lucky enough to see this garden spectacle on a warm sunny day. Entry is cheap. The cafe served tasty food, again at reasonable prices. Go and spend a few hours there, you’ll feel refreshed.
