Overview

The tortuguero canals, will lead you through the living jungle that stretches over the narrow canals, formed by the rivers born in the high mountains, making their way to the sea. Common sightings here are monkeys, crocodiles, iguanas and sloths. The canals are also considered a bird watcher’s paradise, so keep your eyes open! The canals of Tortuguero are without a doubt one of the main attractions in Costa Rica, and this is a unique opportunity to experience this natural wonder. You will pass through some of the country’s most fertile areas and learn about Costa Rica’s main agricultural products. Along the way, you will see cocoa plantations and ornamental flowers. Itinerary

  • Puerto Limon

    The first stop its on a fruit stand, you can taste tropical fruits like the best pineapple in Costa Rica! The tour guide will show you some plants, like the pineapple, Liberica Coffee bush, sugar cane also some trees like Cacao tree, mango and noni tree.

  • Puerto Limon

    Beside the fruit stand we have the souvenir store, here you can taste a great coffee and find great merchandise made in Costa Rica

    20 minutes

  • Province of Limon

    Our second stop. Will be Visit banana and chocolate plantations, where you will see banana plants, coffee plants and cacao trees, the tour guide will give you explications of this plantations.

  • Province of Limon

    The Highlight, a boat ride in one of the biggest canals in Costa Rica, great place for wildlife, here you will have chance to see, Howler monkeys, sloths, caimans, crocodiles, birds and more!

  • Playa Bonita

    Our last stop will be in Playa bonita (Pretty beach), on this stop you can drink sodas, smoothies, coctails or beer, also if you want you can eat something, I recommend you the Rice and Beans with caribean salse, or Patacones the local chips in Costa Rica made with Plantains

  • Puerto Limon (Pass By)

    The last part will be a City tour in Port Limon, you will see important buildings like the first Bapthis Church in limon, the old train station, the main church in the town, the Big boy Stadium the only stadium of baseball in all the province.

Costa Rican Start of our vacation!!

This trip was great for families. Our tour guide Kendrick made sure of it, ensuring they saw animals l, recommending great good, and having a fun experience at the beach. Because the tour was private we were able to adjust to our speed as compared to group tours this was an extra benefit. Kendrick was knowledgeable about the area and what we would be seeing. I felt he went above and beyond for a personal experience. Would highly recommend booking this tour out of Puerto Limon, Costa Rica.

Nicole and Alex were amazing! The tour was fantastic- we saw several sloths, monkeys and iguanas. Nicole was extremely knowledgeable and we learned a lot. We had a wonderful time and highly recommend the tour and Nicole and Alex.

So great!!! Saw some monkeys, sloths, and iguanas on the canal. And took us around Limón in an air conditioned van… much needed! Sirias drove us around and Richeylin was such a great tour guide!! She made us feel so safe and comfortable!!

Puerto Limon River Cruise and City Tour

Were a few drawbacks as the van's air-conditioning was not up to the job and some stops not that interesting. But Risheylin our young guide did a great job and made up for any deficiencies (thus the 5 stars). She was very knowledgeable and did her best to accommodated everyone.
