Overview

A challenging hike in a very unusual part of Tijuca Forest, one of the biggest urban forests in the world. On this circuit of trails you'll walk approx. 5h, for 10,4km (6.5mi), with an elevation gain of 848m (2,670ft) and discover the nature and beauty of the jungle. Reach the Taquara Hill (814m=2670ft), a 100m higher than Christ Redeemer with mazing views to the valley of the forest and the city, in clear days. Visit caves and also coffee farms ruin. After the hike, refresh in a waterfall* (bring towel/ bathing suit). On the route to the park, stop by another summit for pictures and admiring the landscape. The scenery of this tour is amazing with nature and a lot of adventure. You'll also learn the history of Brazil, of the forest, the coffee farms of that area, and the reforestation that happened in the 1800's. *The flow on the falls varies according to the rain. *it also goes to Vista Chinesa but only on working days (on weekends/holidays Vista Chinesa is closed for vehicles)

The perfect day for the curious

This trip made for an amazing day. Our guide Gustavo was friendly and fun, full of knowledge, and a great resource even outside of the hike. He shared so much about the history and ecology of both Brazil and Tinuca throughout the day that I was left wanting to learn more and more. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone looking for a Carioca adventure. Ten out of ten without question and that is not a rating I give lightly.

Epic Experience with Riccardo

As a solo traveler, I was a bit nervous to book a hiking tour in the middle of a rainforest. I am so glad I decided to book this one!! Riccardo was a perfect guide - very informative and super cool, funny, down to earth, suggesting pictures to take, and made for a great experience. The hike was great with several stops at vistas for epic views, the biggest cave in Rio, and ending with a refreshing waterfall shower. Half the hike is uphill, so you need to be in good physical condition. You can go at your own pace, though. Highly recommend booking with Riccardo, and Luisa (guide in training) was fantastic as well! This was my favorite excursion in Rio as a lover of hikes and nature!

Pietro was our guide and he is amazing. Explained a lot about the history and nature of Brazil and Tijuca national park. There was only 1 other person booked so it was just the three of us. The hike was honestly much easier than expected and faster, but you do need stamina. Path is not very technical. The sights we saw were pretty, the waterfall at the start and the grotto and Chinese viewpoint. The shower at the end made me feel reborn. I took extra water because it was a hot day but i only used 2 liters.
