Discuss Amelia Earhart, the iconic female pilot who famously disappeared while trying to fly around the world. Check out Hubble space suits, and lunar modules while learning all about NASA and the United Statesā€™ space program. Engaging Visit to Smithsonian National Air & Space museum

Tim Scanlon is an excellent Tour Guide. He is knowledgeable and engaging. Tim made the museum information more interesting. He is patient and accommodating. We appreciate his flexibility if we asked further questions. Would highly recommend Tim.

Great Tour Guide Brings Exhibits To Life

Published on Jan, 2025

We were in DC for a very short amount of time, but my family wanted to see as much as we could while we were there. I found this tour through Viator and Iā€™m so glad I did. Our tour guide, Maureen, was just fabulous and with her we were able to see and (most importantly) understand what we were seeing in an efficient manner. This tour allows you to skip the often VERY long line for entrance to the museum and your tour guide takes you through the major exhibits in two hours. Then when youā€™re done with the tour, you can stay in the museum for as long as you like (and as long as the museum is still open) to see any exhibits you didnā€™t see with your guide or examine any exhibits youā€™ve already seen for longer. A personal highlight for me was getting a real deep dive into the Wright Brothersā€™ story and my husband loved seeing the Apollo archives. Maureenā€™s passion for the museum shined through everything she shared and made the time fly by. We were worried about our kidsā€™ ability to stay focused on the tour for two hours, but Maureen included them in every conversation and my eleven-year-old said afterwards that the tour felt way shorter than two hours! The tour is a bit on the pricey side, but itā€™s worth it if you only have a short window of time or if you prefer having someone walk you through what youā€™re seeing to place the archive in context.

Good storytelling.

We did this tour as a family of 4, one 8 year old and one teenager - we all had a great time! Maureen was passionate about the museum and engaging the whole time. The only bummer was that a part of the museum was closed due to renovation.
