Lake Vouliagmeni ("Sunken Lake") is an environmental gem- lake fed by underground currents seeping through the mass of Mount Hymettus located to the south of Vouliagmeni, Greece. The surrounding rocks and the green-turquoise water makes it an amazing lanscape. We stop for quick photos with the lake in the background.

After traveling for a few kilometres through the South Coast and the Athenian Riviera, you will be bedazzled by the famous landscapes which surround Sounion. Sounion (or Sunium) was an important ancient Greek religious sanctuary dedicated to the gods Poseidon and Athena. Spectacularly located on a promontory in southern Attica, the site is dominated by the temple of Poseidon perched 70 meters above the sea on the cliff edge. Sounion is the setting for several episodes in Greek mythology, and is specifically mentioned as a place of religious significance in Homer’s Odyssey. In some myths, this is also the spot where the Athenian king Aegeus threw himself into the sea in despair upon having sighted the black sail of his son Theseus’ ship returning from Crete after his battle with the Minotaur.

The ancient Greek temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion, built during 444–440 BC, is one of the major monuments of the Golden Age of Athens. A Doric temple, it overlooks the sea at the end of Cape Sounion, at a height of almost 60 metres (200 ft).

Brilliant private tour.

Costas was a brilliant guide, kind, attentive and full of knowledge about the Athen Riviera. We stopped at a number of places and took some brilliant pictures. Couldn’t recommend more! The sunset at the Temple of Poseidon was truly breath-taking!

A memorable family experience

George was a considerate and careful driver who was happy to share his knowledge and his skill with a camera - capturing some lovely family photos for us. At the temple site his knowledge of sunset times and when to go in etc was really helpful. We had a great time. Thanks ☺️

Tour was magical! Kostas was very informative and even recommended a wonderful Taverna after the tour which was local and authentic as they come. Highly recommended.

Must see Sunset when in Greece!

This was one of our favorite tours. Our driver Kostas was fantastic. He was on time, considerate, friendly and knowledgeable. We felt very safe on this tour as it is a lot of driving and stopping at various sites. Because I booked this a little too early our guide contacted us ahead of time to reschedule so that we made sure to be at the Temple of Poseidon at the right time to grab a bite to eat, walk around, get pictures and then get settled for the incredible sunset. I highly recommend this tour!

Amazing place, amazing guide

Fotios was an amazing guide. Very knowledgeable, helpful, patient and got us there right before the buses of huge crowds started to arrive. He shared the legend behind the temple and it gave us a great perspective as we took our time admiring the scenery without having to wait our turns for photo ops.
