I started my trip at 10.30 am and the first stop was at the historic and heritage listed Taman Ayun temple. This temple dates back to the 16th century and is surrounded by lovely stretch of gardens and moats. It is has a small art gallery and an exhibition hall which projects short documentary on the temp. It is quite a serene and peaceful place, a must do, since it is not far from Tanah Lot.
Tanah lot is very picturesque with the beautiful back drop of cliffs and the ocean, you can spend a few hours (if you can find a quiet spot) there just taking in the landscape which is beautiful. It is catered for tourists, so plenty of places to eat with amazing views of the ocean and and plenty of toilets. Lucky if you can get there before the the big tourists buses come in, to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the place.
The overall trip was great and what made it great is because I had a lovely driver who was also my tour guide. Who explained the history, significance of things/traditions. Such a pleasant person. Thank you Wildi!!
