Overview

Discover the best sights, history and culture of Ålesund and the surrounding islands. You will be able to see a 12th century marble church located on the island of Giske. Then through the underwater tunnel you will get to the Alnes – a charming fishing community, from where you can admire a unique view of the Atlantic Ocean. An interesting point of our trip will be a visit to the local lighthouse. The next and the last point of the trip will be a stop at the view point Aksla – the best place to enjoy a magnificent panorama view over the city and the archipelago. For those who wish to walk down to the city center by the 418 stairs and take unforgettable photos, the tour will end here. The rest of the passengers will be taken to the starting point of our trip.

Our bus will be located in the parking lot between the Ålesund Rutebilstasjon (Ålesund Bus Station) and the pier.

Itinerary

  • Giske Kirke

    Visit at the Sunnmøre’s oldest church .The church was originally built as a private chapel for the powerful Giske Family in the 1100s. Outside photo stop. No admission fee for outside visits.

  • Alnes Lighthouse

    Trough the underwater tunnels we will get to the small village of Alnes - surfers paradise. Opportunity for great view of the rough ocean right in front of you. There will be possibility to buy a coffee & snacks at Alnes Lighthouse Cafe.

    30 minutes

  • Aksla Mountain

    Enjoy magnificent view over Ålesund City and surrounding islands from the highest point in area. Great opportunity for fantastic photos. Outdoor visit.

We were a very small group, no tour leader but driver was very nice. The was one with the voice guides. The light house visit was very nice. Was worth it

The tour was very enjoyable. The tour guide was very informative and pointed out many scenic areas along the way. All the stops provided beautiful scenery and views with good descriptions from our guide

The views were spectacular! The trip was a bit too rushed. Wish we had a few more minutes at each stop, especially at the ancient church (first stop). It would've been nice to be able to walk around the church and the very quaint streets around it!

Viator is a good company for travel in Europe.

I missed one trip from Viator due to pick up schedule changed one day before. Please advise can I get a refund for this trip. Since my phone did not work on the ship from time to time I did not see the change in time. Thanks, Johnson. I was on Apex from 6/18-25 cruise to Norway.
