Overview

We are a surf school based on Venice Beach. Our goal is for you to have an excellent experience surfing, whether it's your first time trying surfing or you are trying to advance your skills. For the first 30-40 minutes we will be training on the beach - then it’s one hour with the instructors in the ocean. The remaining time is yours to practice your skills and have fun with the surfboards that we provide you. We’ll be giving lessons on Venice Beach - one of the most famous beaches in California. You’ll be able to not only enjoy the ocean and get surfing experience, but also explore the unique spirit of the eccentric cultural hub of Venice Beach.

Meeting points

We will meet you at 20 Bicknell Ave, Santa Monica, CA 90401. We will meet you on the right side of the parking lot off Bicknell Ave. Once you enter the parking lot turn right and you will see white Ford E-250 van or Blue Surf School Bus.

This activity ends back at the meeting point.

Itinerary

Available from March 1, 2024 Our Group Lessons last for 2 hours and consist of 20-30 minutes training on the beach and 50-60 minutes with the instructors in the water. The remaining time is yours to practice your skills and have fun with the surfboards we provide you. Group Lessons are suitable for students of beginner-intermediate levels with the age limit of 12 years old minimum. We use 8 and 9-foot foam top surfboards for our Group Lessons. Fiberglass boards are not allowed to Group Lessons due to safety reasons. Please keep in mind that this is a Group Lesson and you will be combined with other participants! If you would like to book a Private Lesson, we offer those as well.

So fun!!

Keanu was an excellent guide!!!! We’ve NEVER surfed at all before (we are 48 & 50) and he helped us both catch the waves in the right time!! Thanks, Keanu, for giving us such a fun memory! Tip: bring a towel, wear your swimsuit under your clothes, you put wetsuit on in the parking lot.

This was so much fun!! I went with my friend and it was a little chilly that day so we ended up being the only guests and basically got a private lesson. Despite the weather, it was awesome. They provide wetsuits so we managed to stay warm, and Thiem was a great instructor - very cool guy and super helpful. This was my first time surfing and my friend's second time and we were both able to get up on the boards (my friend was better than me but I digress.) I would definitely recommend this experience if you're new or somewhat new to surfing!

Pretty cool first try at surfing. Unfortunately my original group had to be cancelled but they offered me an alternative group in Torrance. The surfing conditions were unfortunately not the best that day but our surf instructor made the best of the situation and it was nevertheless a great and especially fun experience.
