Hotel Maria Cristina is steeped in history, dating back to the late 19th century. Named after Queen Maria Cristina, the regal architecture and opulent interior design reflect the grandeur of the Belle Époque era.

    Belle Epoque in design yet highly modern in spirit. The Victoria Eugenia Theatre, a building that celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2012. This sandstone building sporting plateresque motifs with Spanish Renaissance forms was created by the architect Francisco de Urcola in 1912. Particularly interesting on the facade are, over the Doric columns, four groups of sculptures representing the opera, tragedy, comedy and drama.

Great tour with fun guide

Javier is fun, informative and entertaining. He showed us multiple spots and was able to navigate on the fly since some of his favorite go to's were closed for the holiday. The walking was very manageable for our 12 yr old who gobbled up all the pintxos. We highly recommend Javier to guide you around San Sebastián.

Javier was an excellent guide. He took us to 5 supreme food and drink places. He gave us a lot of information on San Sebastian and the Basque culture, we recommend to take this tour.

Educational and delicious adventure around less touristy spots

We had an amazing time with Javier! We're really glad we signed up for this tour, which taught us so much about the history and culture of San Sebastian. Javier explained everything we needed to know to eat pintxos like a local (such as the correct way to consume a "gilda"). He also gave us a deep dive on the past, present, and future of San Sebastian—he is extremely knowledgeable about this town, and won't shy away from any questions you can think of! The only thing we would change would be to request some extra food at the first two stops. We came to the tour very hungry, but the majority of the food didn't arrive until the very end.

My husband and I were lucky enough be the only ones so ended up being a private tour. Our guide was Maider - she was simply amazing. So passionate and knowledgeable about basque culture and gastronomy. Our experience was phenomenal and tastings were seamless. Everything was delicious and the drinks were above and beyond. Worth every penny!
