Overview

Despite being Costa Rica's capital and the busiest city in the country, San José's main landmarks and hoods can be explored on foot. Indeed, as "Josefinos"(a folk from SJ), we must say this is the best way to discover the city's hidden jewels and interesting details that one might overlook otherwise. "Chepe" as many refer to the capital, is a vibrant and eclectic hub with a rich history and a local scene that is in constant change. During this tour, we will cover the downtown central area, its parks, plazas and boulevards, all while walking leisurely towards an up-scale classic "barrio" that has been turned into a gastronomic go-to area, where you will certainly have the chance to satisfy your cravings. This tour is great for first-time visitors, history buffs, or simply anyone who wants to have a good time and make the most of it in San José :)

The tour finishes in Barrio Escalante, on the east side of the capital. Only 5 minutes by car to the tour start point. Barrio Escalante is known for featuring some of best restaurants, pubs and specialty coffee shops. We will gladly give you directions to go back to your hotel.

Fabulous Walking Tour

This is a great tour to get to know the City of San Jose, and the interesting facts about Costa Rica! Our host Jorge was extremely knowledgeable about history, culture and natural sciences. He was happy to field the many questions we had. We walked from downtown into many neighborhoods with interesting architecture and beautiful parks. Jorge was really attuned to going at the pace we wanted, and was so friendly. If you are new to San Jose, do yourself a favor and book this tour.

We loved loved this tour from start to finish. Even with covid restrictions, Jorge found limited entry museums for us to visit and explore. He was knowledgeable of the city's history as well as, the country's. We found the political and military history quite compelling. Ended our day in a trendy, up and coming neighborhood that was perfect for a late lunch and libations. Definitely recommend for anyone who appreciates small, personal tours.
