The best of both worlds. Close proximity to the city, yet worlds apart! Active but relaxing all at the same time. Most people think of sand when you go to the desert but on this trip it's water! Enjoy the scenery of cactus lining the banks of the desert scape while kayaking the Lower Salt River from Phon D Sutton to Granite Reef recreational areas.

Meeting points

You will NOT be meeting us at the ranch. You will be meeting us at Phon D Sutton Recreation Site. Upon check-in you will be given a Tonto Pass for parking your vehicle at the recreation site.

Salt River

There is no better way to enjoy the cool water, and marvel at the beautiful wilderness that is the Tonto National Forest than to go kayaking or paddle boarding on the river! Keep your eyes open for the native wildlife and possibly wild horses. It is the perfect vantage point to take in the beauty of the Sonoran Desert.

Kayaking beginner friendly experience

This route is very friendly to beginners. The river is pretty shallow and the ranch people gave very nice guidance before you start. Had a beautiful two hours on the Salt River.

Was an amazing experience, saw a wild horse. Would definitely recommend!! Not guided but the guys were great, explained everything to us and had awesome enthusiasm and a sense of humor! Loved the trip.

This river trip was amazing! We saw a ton of wild life, including a beautiful blue heron and a family of cattle. Will be joining them again in the summer months for the longer adventure :)

What a treat. Viewing wildlife and wilderness from the water, at a leisurely pace was such a nice vacation combination of effort and ease. Ryan was great!
