We took a beautiful hike through history with Arturo. Walking up the hills of Vallarta, we learned about the historic town and how it relates to what we see today. We saw important buildings and learned their stories, and even had a chance to visit a marvelous home tucked in the upper hills with an incredible view of the city and river valley. We learned about the importance of raicilla on the culture and development of the city, and had a chance to taste some artisanal, small batch raicilla from south Jalisco. The restaurant at the end, Pajaros, had some of the best food I've eaten in the city. Make sure you try the fish egg taco, and the squid taco; unbelievable. The restaurant atmosphere was the most comfortable, calm, and welcoming cantina I've ever been to. No blaring music or television, it was perfect for conversation.
Be prepared for an urban hike, quite a few stairs, and lots of sun. Be amazed by incredible views, rich knowledge of the local history, and a very wonderful tour guide if you go with Arturo.
Would highly recommend this tour to get away from the tourist traps.
