We decided to add a second tour to our trip (we did the Dunns Tour with this company as well) and went with the Taste Tour with Alrick—it was hands-down one of the best decisions we made! As a foodie, this was everything. We hit four or five stops (I was too busy enjoying myself to keep track), and every single one was amazing.
We started with fresh fruit and coconut water straight from the coconut—so refreshing! Breakfast was next, but no pancakes! We had brown stew chicken, and Salt mackerel, yam , potato and pumpkin. Then we went to a Rastafarian food spot and I loved their fresh juices.
Then we got patties and coco bread, I got the chicken patty. We also grabbed some banana bread to take back with us, though it didn’t last long once we got back.
What made the trip even better was Alrick himself. He was a fun guide, sharing stories about herbs, Jamaican culture, and even what it was like growing up. One of my favorite stories was about how, for Christmas, his family would buy a goat and use every single piece of it—even making goat head soup.
Our two tours were the best part of our vacation. I highly recommend this tour if you want to experience Jamaican food and culture and have great company.
