Győr is the third Hungarian city after Budapest and Sopron in terms of historical monuments. The streets of the old town are full of these monuments and fantastic squares such as Bécsi Kapu Tér (Vienna Gate) and Széchenyi Tér. Baroque and neoclassical architecture can be seen on the facades painted in pale yellow and pastel shades. Here you can see the confluence of the Rába, Rábca and Danube rivers. During the walk you can also see the bishop's castle built in the 13th century on the hill of Káptalandomb. There are thermal and curative springs in the town, thanks to which a spa was established here. They have recently been modernised and offer both indoor and outdoor pools, attractions and bars with direct access from the water.

Bratislava Castle stands on a site that has been fortified for thousands of years. Originally a defensive fortress, it was rebuilt into a Renaissance-Gothic palace in the 15th century. It acquired its characteristic four-tower shape when it was the magnificent residence of Ferdinand I of Habsburg. Interestingly, the castle actually has only one tower. This is the 13th century Crown Tower, which once housed the crown jewels. Today you can see a replica of them here. The other three towers were added later. Inside the castle there is an exposition of the Slovak National Museum. The original interior has not been preserved because the castle burned down in 1811. It was repaired in 1953. The castle offers a beautiful view of the Alps and the Carpathians. From the terraces you can see the Danube and the Austro-Hungarian border. Legend has it that an underground road leads from here to Vienna.
