We welcome you in the wine tasting room to tell you the story of our family farm, introduce the production and choose the wine you love the most for your pic nic. Following the self-guided tour in the vineyards you'll learn more about wine and viticolture. You'll reach the most panoramic place in the vineyards. You'll listen just the sounds of nature and the unique view of Assisi and Saint Francis basilica is just a stone's throw away from you. Both young and old will find the walk an easy and enjoyable one. You have a bottle of your favourite wine paired with handmade food for your pic nic lunch. We welcome you in the wine tasting to give you all the details of your experience. This is the right occasion to know more about SAIO winery and choose the wine you prefer for your pic nic: you have a bottle of wine at your choice between 4 wines for 2 persons. We give you all the information about the walk in the vineyards and you receive a map. The signs and the information boards will guide you along the way and you learn more about the fascinating world of wine and vine growing. You'll have fun exploring the panoramic vineyards along the self-guided tour. You can enjoy a unique view on Saint Francis church, UNESCO World Heritage Site, just 800 mt from you, the city of Assisi, Santa Maria degli Angeli and Perugia on the background. At the end of the walk you find everything ready for your pic nic with a view, surrounded by vineyards, olive trees an oaks. Enjoy you favourite SAIO Assisi wine directly where the wine is produced, in front of a unique view of Assisi. We propose you a rich selection of hand made cheeses, cured meats, traditional salty cakes and dessert to discover the real taste of Umbria. Absolutely incredible service! Myself and my aunt both came along and they were incredibly accommodating for all of our needs. If you want an amazing vineyard experience, this is the place to be!

A Delightful Experience

We combined a wine tasting with a picnic at Saio vineyards. It is outside the main walls of Assisi, but you can drive, walk, or bike there. We walked from our hotel in Assisi. Our hostess was very welcoming and knowledgeable. The wines were excellent, and there was only one other couple there for a tasting. Following the tasting, we received a map of the vineyards showing where each variety of grape was grown. We were able to walk through the vineyards up to a veranda overlooking Assisi. Our hostess brought us a delightful lunch with an extensive charcuterie board, bruschetta with olive oil, and the wine of our choice. It was a delightful experience. We were never rushed for time and were able to enjoy the vineyard. This is a side trip I would definitely recommend. It was a very good value and one of our best memories of our trip to Italy.

Excellent wine tour

We enjoyed learning about the winery and thought our host was very friendly and informative. We liked the SAIO wine and bought a case to send home. They took care of everything. The best part was walking through the gorgeous vineyard and then our yummy picnic in the most beautiful setting.

Absolutely amazing time!! We tasted all the wines with food served with each wine!! The wine and food was amazing! We ordered a case and half to ship home and received it in a timely manner! Also got olive oil and jam that they make! Highly recommend!
