While you can't stay overnight on Saona Island—it's part of a national park—it makes for a great day out on the island 30-minute speedboat if you’re pressed for time. Visiting Saona Island is best done as part of a tour that includes snorkeling and a stop at the waist-deep Blue Lagoon, where you will be able to see starfish.

    Isla Saona is a 42 square kilometer oasis off the southern coast of the Dominican Republic. Originally called "Adamanay" by the Taino Indians, the island was renamed by Christopher Columbus during his second voyage to the Americas in 1494. The name, "Saona," commemorates his friend Michele da Cuneo, from Savona, Italy. This is one of the most famous beaches in the country, known for its white sands, turquoise waters, and tropical palms. We will take you to the island in a speedboat that includes a stop at a natural pool with transparent waters in the middle of the sea. When we meet on Saona Island, you will have many options such as: swimming in the calm waters, visiting the open bar, taking a nap in a beach hammock, playing volleyball, enjoying a delicious typical lunch or walking along the coast. Most likely, you will do everything!

Oh what a day! From start to finish Orlando and his crew was amazing , we was very sceptical booking as I went off recommendation from a hotel Facebook group , sooo glad we went with our gut and booked , we watched TUI guests pack on to boats full of people looking like sardines crammed on , we paid BIA pretty much the same to experience first class solo treatment , lunch on the was magnificent with excellent food and best table on the beach , premium drinks all included all stored cold with ice .. Orlando you New Yorker you truly entertained us brits yesterday.. thank you

We had the most amazing day the 2 tour guides were fab and took us to some amazing places on the trip. Got to hold a star fish and see turtles. Had lunch in a perfect spot. We went with another couple but felt a like it was just the 2 of us. I would defo recommend this as u get to spend as long as u want at each point instead of being told how long u get and much more time to enjoy the fantastic experience

We had an amazing day from start to finish the speedboat and crew were really friendly and looked after our every need we didn’t feel rushed at any point and the lunch on the private beach was lovely I would definitely recommend this trip …… brilliant day

It was Absoutley fantastic day out from the hotel pick up to lunch on the island. Stanley, our guide was Absoutley brilliant . We saw and held starfish and saw 5 turtles,stingray, and flying fish. Couldn't fault a thing all the communication from booking in England to our arrival in punta cana.

We had the best day in the DR with Bia Travels! Our guide and drivers were so much fun and thoughtful to take us to see sea turtles and the best of the Caribbean! Our day was worth every dollar and we wished the day hadn’t ended!
