Overview

Saint Germain des Prés is responsible for the sophisticated image of Paris as a city of art, literature and culture. This charming neighborhood offers a glimpse into authentic Parisian life as you explore its popular attractions with a local guide. You'll visit iconic landmarks such as the oldest cafe in Paris, opened in 1672, as well as the oldest church. You will also discover some of the city's first jazz clubs, chocolate shops, and restaurants. As you walk down the chic Boulevard Saint Germain, you will see the place where medieval fairs and marketplaces were once organized. You'll also discover how this neighborhood became a hub for artists and writers like Picasso and Hemingway and existentialists like Sartre and De Beauvoir. During the tour, you will have the opportunity to visit one of France's six national theaters and one of Paris's largest churches, which played a prominent role in the popular novel and film, "The Da Vinci Code."

The Saint Germain walking tour with our guide RT was wonderful! Such a beautiful neighborhood, less touristy than central Paris! RT is amazing! She is very knowledgeable with the history of Paris and more! It’s a 1.5 hr tour but she went the extra mile and allowed a longer tour. I love how she points out the must try or see places, and has many suggestions. Love her recommendations. RT even provided her contact number and helped us planned out our remaining days in Paris! That’s going above and beyond! I would recommend anyone booking this tour to request RT as the guide!
