Overview

The original Cathedral Cove boat tour. Departing Hahei Beach, this tour will be the highlight of your holiday. Explore coastal islands of the marine reserve, reefs, massive sea caves and bays, including the world famous Cathedral Cove. The magnificence of this natural volcanic scenery is legendary and the approach by sea, combined with an insightful yet relaxed commentary further enhances the experience. Seating only ten passengers, this personalised tour caters for all age groups.

Meeting points

Check in for the tour is 20 minutes prior to your departure time at the south end of Hahei Beach. Park at the free day parking area on the grass down Wigmore Crescent, from here walk to the end of Wigmore Crescent (2 mins) and down the beach access-way. Look out for our white gazebo.

    Visiting World Famous Cathedral Cove from the water is a must for viewing the surrounding coastal scenery, including the amazing ignimbrite sea caves and cliffs. Please note: We do not get off the boat at Cathedral Cove.

Fantastic view of Hahei

Fantastic tour, the boat was new, spacious, and really comfortable. It's also highly accessible as the boat comes on to land, and there are two easy stairs to get on board. We saw some stunning scenery and Scotty our captain was very knowledgeable. Highly recommend!

We loved our one hour trip on the Hahei Explorer. Fun for all ages with their new boat that means you don’t even need to get your feet wet. The friendly staff were incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, and the trip took in all the spectacular sites around Cathedral Cove and the surrounding islands.

Absolutely fabulous trip with Scot. Extremely knowledgeable, friendly. We had a Blast going into the caves, Saw furseal and snapper. The Girl on the Beach was awsome, friendly and just so kind. We Can highly recommend this to anyone-
