Get ready to go back in time on this walking tour of Old San Juan. Sometimes I will bring a van and we drive a bit. The City of Old San Juan was founded in the year 1521, making it the Oldest City in Puerto Rico and the second oldest city in The Americas. We will be walking and stopping at all the main sites, like castles, forts, cobblestone streets, colorful buildings, monuments, and plazas learning about their history. This tour does not go inside the forts. Every picture you take in Old San Juan is beautiful and unique, so make sure you’re ready. We will also learn everything there is to know about the city and the island. You will be with a certified tour guide, so you can ensure you're getting the correct information everywhere you stop. We will start here. This is the meeting location.

We will see and learn some facts about the Fort. You can go inside after we finish the tour.

Castillo San Felipe del Morro

We will see and learn some facts about the Fort. You can go inside after we finish the tour.

La Fortaleza - Palacio de Santa Catalina

This is the Governor’s Mansion. We will talk about it from the outside. The entrance of this house is where sometimes you see umbrellas or flags hanging from the top and many people like taking pictures.

La Puerta de San Juan

This is the main gate of the City. Old San Juan was a military base surrounded by walls. It had 5 gates.

Iglesia de San Jose (Pass By)

Iglesia San Jose is one of the Oldest Church in Puerto Rico, built in the year 1532.
Cuartel de Ballaja

Military Baracks built in the year 1864. It was also used by the US Military as a Military Hospital.

Santa Maria Magdalena de Pazzis Cemetery (Pass By)

Old Cemetery that started to be used around the yeat 1814. It has a beautiful view of the ocean and the Fort in the background.

This was a very informative tour and our guide, Daniel, was extremely knowledgeable and always more than happy to get family pictures for us or let us take a little extra time looking at a location. We all enjoyed this event and would definitely recommend it!

Danny was friendly and helpful, even calling to check in when I was running late after getting a little lost on the way. He was very knowledgeable about the local history and culture and shared so much, not only historical info but also some stuff that was more current. The tour included lots of landmarks and tips for exploring further on your own later if desired. I followed his recommendations for lunch and coffee and both were delicious!
