Overview

This one-day tour takes you from the bustling streets of Kumamoto City to the majestic heights of Mount Aso, the serene Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine, and the breathtaking Takachiho Gorge. The first stop is Mount Aso, one of the world's largest volcanoes, where you can see the active, intense white smoke and dynamic scenery. For lunch during the tour, you can enjoy local Aka beef. Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine, known for being the setting of a popular manga comic, is a mysterious place that has long been preserved in unspoiled natural surroundings. The last stop is Takachiho Gorge, where you can detoxify your mind and body in the mysterious scenery created by the abundant nature. Takachiho Scenic Boat Ride experience is also included in this tour! This tour will be able to experience Japan's wonderful traditions and aggressive nature all at once, making it an one of unforgettable memory. If you wish, it's also possible to participate in these tours as a day trip by Shinkansen!

A highlight of our family trip

The company, tour guide and the driver were amazing and so flexible. I decided to add a 4th person the night before and they were kind enough to make the changes necessary to accommodate me. They literally designed the trip to suite our interests on the way. Maeko (sorry if I got it wrong) was so well prepared, informative and nice to talk to. The trip had many magical moments.

Mieko was awesome! She was a talented guide who loved her job and it showed. She was well prepared and gave us great insight on Kumamoto and the stops/views/eats/water we experienced on our trip: Takachiho Gorge, Mt. Aso, Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine, Kumamoto countryside, our culinary experience at a fabulous restaurant, and tasting the purity of the Kumamoto water from a natural spring. Mieko enhanced our tour greatly with her hospitality, kindness, knowledge. She went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure we took advantage of everything each stop had to offer. We loved Mieko and our excursion!!!!!

This was definitely a full day excursion and it was worth every minute of it. The scenery was gorgeous, the food was amazing, and all the stops were well worth it. Thoroughly enjoyed and would do again!

A beautiful day around mount Aso and Tokashiho gorges

We did spent a full day discovering mount Aso and surroundings as also Takashiho gorges. Thanks to our guide, Megumi and our driver, who definitely make this day an unforgettable one. We all definitely enjoyed this trip including lunch and Shrines visits.

This was the most amazing thing we could’ve done with only 2 nights here. We had the absolute most incredible tour guide Takaya, who was so sweet and knowledgeable. We were able to take our time in each place and get as many pictures as we liked even while on the schedule, which was nice because we saw so much but it didn’t feel rushed at all. We will never forget this for the rest of our lives!! Thank you so much for allowing us to experience the scenic side of Kumamoto and learn about the rich history of the region. It was also super interesting to learn more about the Earth and the ways it shapes our world. Such a cool place.
